Hi all,

I am looking to transfer an existing number from M1 (Public plan) registered under my mom's name to M1 (Corporate plan) under my name.

Checked with M1 CSO, they do not allow me to transfer the number nor ownership to my name because my mom's account still has lines with active contracts.

Therefore I am exploring the option of porting my number out to Circles.Life for a month (since no contract), then sign up for a M1 corporate plan and port the number back.

Anyone done this before? Any help is appreciated. Thank

I assume that you are using this line that is signed under your mom's name? This line is still has a contract in force.

M1 will not allow for such a transference, unless you agree to continue with your mom's contract as an individual entity, not corporate individual scheme.

If you port over your mom line to CL, M1 will treat this as a termination of contract. Your mom is liable to pay for a termination fees.

I would suggest to serve and fulfil all contractual period that signed with M1, then port over immediately once the contract is expired. Even for transfer of ownership you are subject to a $20 administrative fees.

M1 do not allow any Transfer of Ownership while mobile line contract is still in force.

Whereas other Telco such as Starhub has no such restriction when doing Transfer of Ownership.

Porting out while mobile line still on contract will have termination charges which is usually calculate based on the balance months of contract x subscription rates.

Porting to other Telco may include SIM card & other charges as in One-Time fees.
Only while if there is any ongoing promotion then the SIM card charges may be waived.

However Telco such as Starhub if sign-up under CIS (Corporate) plan may provide free SIM card and would include other benefits as free Caller-ID and discounts.

So it is best to calculate the cost on termination vs the gain on CIS discount & benefits.

It is as good as holding on to the existing mobile line while sign-up a new line under your CIS name.
When the contract end then may able to port out and then port-in to have change of mobile number, depend on T&C.
