Well my grades aren't good, pretty bad i would say, if not i would love to do biz if i could. Now is either Real Estate or FASS and since i not very good at essay writing, and the urban planning part of Real Estate seems pretty interesting, so I decided to choose real estate.

How about you shoh0ku, are you currently studying in NUS?

I dont think NUS Real Estate is about selling houses. A lot of people think this way though.

Real Estate is defined as land and all the buildings and developments on it. Many people mistake real estate to mean real estate brokerage or agency business. It is much more than that as it encompasses many business and strategic activities from site selection to conducting feasibility and market studies as well as financing and investment decisions. It also requires many different disciplines from law, urban planning and economics to valuation, finance management, which will provide the knowledge for real estate professionals to ensure that the value of real estate is optimised at every stage of life cycle of a development project.

Ya, somehow many ppl don't know wad is it and tell ppl don't take the course. Its about managing the buildings and land, not about selling estates.
But seems like quite alot of theories to study since law related modules are in it and also calculations too....not really that easy to study.

Is there interview for DA? Cos I put RE as the first choice but didn't get any news.. Results weren't good either..

I do agree that there might be more demand than supply for this degree. And i know it is not just about selling properties. My point is that it is too specialised, yet not a professional degree. You are learning and training for a very niche field which doesn't require you to have the degree to be in that field. Similar problems faced with design students, too niche and the brilliant people mostly do not have degrees in it. You are better of trying for engineering if your grades aren't too good too and essays are not your forte.

But well, that is just my point of view. In the end, the degree is just a paper you use to get you an interview. And I rather the thing written on that paper to be something more practical so that you have the flexibility to do what you want when you graduate.

That is true. Some degrees can actually be self-studied IMO. However, some people just need a formal education environment in order to succeed. And paper is still degree. I can tell my employer that I'm well versed in psych and i have studied everything from cognitive to abnormal psych but it still cant prove anything that a degree can.

hmmmm engineering is out too cause i didn't take physics since sec 2, well my combi is math chem geo and econs so you can say that i am at a disadvantage when it comes to choosing courses. But then again, i do not have much interest in technical and mechanical stuff so oh well

Hi Mamamiaz! Yes there is interview for DA, I put real estate as my first choice and was called to go for an interview on 29/4 (next mon). Well my UAS was a mere 73 (including MT), so if your UAS is anywhere near that and you did fill in the DA portion, they may call u for an interview soon enough!
