ah, that's bad to know that it1002 is no longer offered. I took it when I was in year 1 sem 1. Apparently it1002 was easier, since all computing students cant take that mod, and the content is lesser than the usual cs1010 or cs1101(before they changed the mod code to cs1010).

As for gem, perhaps i can recommend gem2006/ph2110 logic. If you are good at logic operators in computing/maths, the first half of this mod should be fine to handle. second half deals with tree operations and more abstract concepts in logic. Another plus point is that this is an arts gem, so for those who need to clear arts gem can consider...

you can try searching for it using the search function in ivle. sometimes they will post information regarding the module.. if not you can always try module-review.com.. such popular lvl 1000 mod will definitely have a few reviews.

i think you should jus choose a mod that interest you... it is hard for ppl to recommend u mod as wat interest others might not be interesting for you.. or wat others think is easy might be a nightmare for you.

If you're not intending to do QF, don't bother with by second part of my post. You'll soon understand after you take CS1010/E.

During my year, I paid 1 point on Year 1 Sem 2 to take CS1010 while I think some QF wannabies plonked 700+ points to take CS1010E. Well, I thought, CS1010 would be harder since I've got no experience handling it. In fact, I was a total noob. Came up that I got A for both 1010 and 1020 at the end.

Of course, now Science students paying 1 point for CS1010 is impossible, since IT1002 is gone, therefore all Stats students would have to choose to take CS1010/E.

As for BSP1005, I took it on 2011/12 Semester 1 when sheet happened. Since then the assessment modes have changed somewhat. Of course the news reported what's the tip of the iceberg, I can't tell you what actually happened because I was actually called up as part of the investigation - so confidential stuffs eh.

so for someone without no computing background, should take cs1010e? but i heard that the tutorial qns are harder is it? and is it possible to tell what was the structure of the paper and assessment?

With or without background, CS1010 and CS1010E would kill you either way. However, check out with friends from SoC who are the lecturers teaching that mods, and how they're.

I took it under Dr. Henry Chia, and I wouldn't have a more caring and understanding lecturer than anyone else. The fact also that CS1010 (not CS1010E!!!!!!!!!!!) has got no bell curve means that an A is a huge possibility for you, too.

Again, I was under the false impression that CS1010E was easier (cause it's meant for Engineering people). Turns out otherwise.
