fac mod recommendation:
LSM1301 - got lab
LSM1302 - no lab no group project
LSM1303 - got lab got group project
so i think LSM1302 still the best among all lsm mods.
You have no bio background too? coz lsm1302 does not preclude a level h2 bio but lsm1301 only allows until h1 a lvl. But then again the lab is quite a turn off.
Sian shouldve taken biology in sec sch at least.

i onli took lsm1302 before.... but content wise, i dont think the lvl of difficulty differ much.. and i dun have any bio background at all also, so, u will probably struggle abit initially with all the nver-hear-before jargon... but if u put in some effort to go find out the definition whenever u meet with a new term, u sld be fine.. and for a start, u go look at the module info in ivle.. they have alot of weblinks which basically cover the entire module... i highly recommend u to go there and take a look at the first few links before the lecture starts.

I have taken both lsm1301 & lsm1302/gek 1521.
If u do not hv bio background at all... I will strongly recommend lsm1301 instead of lsm1302/gek 1527.
I took lsm1302/gek1527 first den took lsm1301.
I found lsm1302/gek 1527 much challenging than lsm1301

Content quite heavy. I ask my H2 bio frens is really things dey learn in H2 bio. Bad for ppl w/o bio background, as it does not preclude them...basically they will ruin the bell-curve

Anyway i took PC1322 for the other fac req. u can try it if u are interested in Astrology. It's basically introducing the various planets and stuff. It's cool and interesting. Assessment wise, final mcq open book with grp and individual report.

Ok, I have been a lurker of this thread, but I guess I can try to help contribute a bit too:
CS3236 - Introduction to Information Theory
Prerequisites: MA1521 and ST2334 and their equivalents (i.e. MA1102R and ST2131 and ST2132)
For those of you who do not mind computer science modules, and/or are interested in information theory, you can consider CS3236, a newly mounted module which began in AY12/13 Sem 1 (I was in the first batch of students who took this module).
In CS3236, you will learn the basics of information theory, such as, transmission of information, error correcting techniques, entropies, a little bit of cryptography and etc.
Workload is ok (1 2-hour lecture per week, and 1 1-hour tutorial per week), although you would need to do an individual project (either theory or coding) which is worth 20% of the final grade. There is weekly assignment to be submitted to; although if you follow the lectures closely, it should not be hard to score well in the assignments.
The lecturer is awesome; I dare say that she is very patient in teaching and very passionate in delivering the lecture material and her knowledge to the class.
While it is not a must to be exceptionally strong in programming, it might be more advantageous as you can choose from a wider range of topics for the project. Also, this module involves loads of probability and statistics than you would expect in a CS module (surprising eh?). So you might want to bookmark this module if you want to take an UE that is closely aligned with your major or something.

Er CS ar? haha i think i will skip ba. I really suck in my CS1010 already. i guess computing just aint for everyone ba. really got to have wad it takes to be in computing.

i love cs1010. most fun module out of my 3 semesters. haha
