Check your facts. IIRC Nvidia had an earnings drop because of a huge write-off for its investment in the modem business. The GPU segment actually had a revenue increase, albeit with a drop in margin.

Check previous earnings from Nvidia......Not asking you to looking at just current results. They are earning less than 200 million every quarter which is not alot. Revenue is just a little more than AMD.

The fact tht Nvidia is not making huge profits despite dominating the PC Gaming industry shows you that its not that profitable afterall....

Not surprising considering PC market is shrinking as more are moving to laptops and tablets etc..... Also there is iGPU from Intel.

Agree. We have to thank AMD for that. If Nvidia dominated like Intel, we will be seeing 10% performance gains every generation with nice fat margins for Nvidia.

I guess AMD would need to go into mobile phone cpu like intel. Nowadays people would rather use tablet than laptop~

Ya, they need to diversify. Cannot just stick with PC and laptop. Going console is a good one. But its not enough. mobile is not easy though. Margin is poor and many competitors Eg. mediatek etc......

Even Nvidia and Intel not doing well in mobile.

Price war? I gotta thank AMD for making my HD7850 still worth like $200 with the 370 rebrand.

sls like a ghost town cos of all the black shops.

To be objective, I don't think that is the reason.

Overall, the PC market is declining due to 2 reason,
1) Mobile market, i.e. mobile phones and tablets. This is more attractive for people on the move due to the mobility factor.

2) Lack of anything interesting on the PC market for a long time. I used to be quite enthusiastic about hardware, but nowadays, I don't feel the same way. Its getting boring.

As onboard graphics gets better, Nvidia and AMD will see revenue drop. More and more young children are hooked to games like Hearthstone, Minecraft etc which can even run on iPad. FPS games don't seem to excite them at all.

The computer shops are OK price-wise. I used to frequent SLS once or twice a week to look for games and IT stuff and also eat at the carpark food court. I haven't been there in months, though. Lost interest when the customer service got too bad.

Main reason is : Living cost higher n higher every year , but salary remain same . So no $$ upgrade :(

pc market is different from pc gaming market. pc market long ago dead. only Apple desktops still can see growth, contributing greatly to Intel's revenue.

PC gaming market will compete with consoles. but i tend to think those like to game on pc tend not to switch to console or at least, own both. so the pc gaming market is still there. but attracting new customers may get harder as more kids game on console and mobile. it's fuss free and tbh, not many care about the hardware side.

Coz can only buy car, cannot buy bus or MRT or taxi. For PC, if dun buy PC still can buy laptop, tablet, phablet, smartphone, 2-in-1 convertible laptops, etc...:D
