A new GTX 1650 costs about 500SGD over at Amazon Sg, yet peeps are crapping over a card that cost cost 360SGD (Sapphire Pulse RX 6500 XT) that outperforms it in games. .
look at lazada cheaper...

TBH I hope people selling their second hand GPU opt to drop their price especially GTX1XXX except GTX1080 above.
GTX1060 I still notice around $300, GTX1070 around $500 - $700.

People can get brand new GPU at that price and the card condition have to be tested.

If you're seeing Carouhell listings at $500, they're probably being dealt lower than that.

I would've sold my 1070 at $350, but the amount of muppets who still wanted to nego left me such a sour taste that I decided to send my 1070 to a friend in the UK instead

This is moot, OOS liao....all those priced reasonably are OOS liao, only left with those crazily priced ones. With regards to the RTX 3050, IF it's more than 700SGD, then might as well look at the RX 6600 which is more generally faster in games.

newegg had stocks for 3050 at $477 for around half an hour, perhaps the demand isn't that great

not really true anymore. better budget options from intel have been available for a year now in the form of the 11400, which u can get a decent cpu + b560 mobo combo for about $400-$500, which is actually cheaper than an equivalent r5 3600 + b550 combo while still offering more performance all round and has pcie4. i expect the non k alder lake cpus (ie. 12100, 12400 etc) to drive down prices of pcie4 systems soon. i would still say the 6500xt is a reasonable purchase for new builders (other than those really skimping with last gen parts).

3600 is pcie 4 compliant. 4000g and 5000g are not though, so u are still mostly correct.

...

u literally just dismantled ur argument with this. sure, objectively the 6500xt barely qualifies as a """proper""" gpu, but it is the best option if one doesnt want to get burned as hard in this market as other options. the asus 1650 on amazon u mentioned is also a reasonable deal, but probably doesnt have local warranty support.
I did not dismantled or contradict myself. What I was saying is that even though the RX 5500 XT is no more in production, when we are expecting a next gen GPU to arrive, nobody should expect the next gen to perform almost the same, but regress in every other ways.

From a PCI-E 4.0 support standpoint, the CPU tells only part of the story. We also need to consider the motherboard used. For instance, I will not be surprised that most Ryzen 3xxx series users are using a B450 or X470 board since that was pretty much the prevalent chipset at that time. I paired my Ryzen 3000 CPU previously with a X470 since it is backward compatible and at that point in time, only the expensive X570 exists. As for Intel, Rocket Lake only existed for like 8 to 9 months max, so the number of people that actually have a computer with a Rocket Lake is not going to be high and at the same time, it is also not attractive since performance is pretty the same as the older Comet Lake, and even some regression due to higher cache latency.

Bottom line is this, AMD themselves are producing "budget" CPUs with PCI-E 3.0 only support in the form of the APUs. There is rumours of them reviving Renoir to compete with the lower end Alder Lake CPUs. So from an AMD perspective, they should have foreseen the limitations of the RX 6500 XT on these systems. The performance hit is tangible, unlike a few percentage like the RX 6600 series. And given that Intel user base an order of magnitude larger than AMD's, the gimp will hit these user base the most. Perhaps AMD did not deliberately make this a handicap for Intel systems, but it ultimately will hit the target market, which is the budget gamers.

best cheap strategy is to get cheap 2nd hand xbox series S for 300 bucks and a cheap gamepass 1-2 years .

Wait 1-2 years for GPU prices to stabilise . gtx 4000 series will be released by then too.

This either Xbox or PS4, get Gamepass or PSN have monthly free games.
EA play subscription which I also have allows you to play most of EA games
like Battlefield etc.
But EA play best subscribe through Origins so can access all the games on PC,
console and steam wise not all titles are available like RTS.

Reading this thread, the most talk about are RTX 3050, GTX 1650 and RX650XT. I was curious about RTX 3050 and started this topic after it was announced. It was crowned as king of 1080p 60fps gaming but i did not go for it since i don't game beyond 1080p 60fps and 4k or RTX and mismatch with my hardwares so it a waste of money for me.

As for GTX 1650, it's was not been recommended or talk about here but now peoples start to show interest. I brought the GTX 1650 super just before the price went high and is satisfy with it's performance and i not willing to pay for products at a high price due to lack of stocks or high demand.

I also take a look at RX 6500XT, i think this is a low budget GPU with support for 4K and ray tracing. Don't think it will run as well as a RTX 3050. At the price of s$3++,might satisfy casual gamers and better than gaming on IGPU.

Lastly, i wish all of you a Happy CNY. :)

These GPU are price below $500, GTX1660 series and above will range between $6XX to $8XX.
The RTX2060 which is still available is around $7XX to $8XX but some won't want to spend
so much on GPU.

One thing very strange is that locally super version of GTX1650/GTX1660 are very rare as well as
overpriced.
While the RTX3060 is $1k+ range onwards but most shop do not sell it separately.

Still not a good time to buy a GPU just hoping for price as well as stock to be more available.
Second hand GPU are still on the high side.

Best bet for a pretty good gaming experience is the RX 6600, pretty good for 1080P and 1440P (with reasonable ingame graphics setting). With prices of the RTX 3050 inflated to about 680SGD to >700SGD, that's is in the RX 6600 range, and the latter is the faster card.
