I almost pulled the trigger earlier as well, but since Black Friday is next week I'm hoping there might be some promos or whatnot. 1 more week of waiting shouldn't be too bad.

Saw the bundle with the 128gb microsd, really looks tempting.

Hahaha I also chose to wait since Black Friday is around the corner.

The 128gb microsd in the bundle will not have free shipping, shipping is around US$13.

Instead, it will be better to buy the microsd separately, and group with other items to hit $125 for free shipping (or you can just buy multiple microsd haha).

I use mine ( 32GB/LTE ) for browsing and media playback only.
Haven't been able to tax the tablet at all.

It's 16gb storage can be a problem if you are going to install alot of apps. For me, most of my apps will be on my phone, I'll use the tablet for reading, browsing, and maybe watching video so this won't be a problem for me.

2gb is also not a problem for me since the shield is running mostly stock Android. Those with heavy skin will be a bigger concern.

Amazon UK is paid in pounds if I recall correctly. And SGD to pounds ain't better compared to USD

isn't it more expensive? £149.99 converted to SGD is about $318.64 and you still need to get forwarder service.

Oh yea, just saw UK Amazon is pay in pound not euro. US Amazon Free shipping as in USA only and the US rate to SGD really sucks now compare to 2 years ago only 1.2 but now 1.4 which is paying extra for nothing, I will reconsider again, might look at Mi Pad 2 64GB waiting for review first.

The K1 tablet is a re-release of the original shield tablet with a different name, less accessories but also at a lower price point. The upgraded tablet should be an upcoming shield tablet with their X1 chip, so it should be likely called the Shield X1. Price point unknown, but at least at the original Shield tablet price of 299usd.

The Mi Pad might seem to offer better value, due to lower price and better screen resolution but if you go and read users threads, many people complain about the bad UI, laggy and bad support from Xiaomi. This is the sole reason that made me hesitate from buying a Mipad 1 after their $50 price drop until the K1 was unexpectedly announced.

Official or tech sites reviews are not as reliable as users threads because users use their gears over a long period of time, so you get an idea of how well the gear ages.

you made a good point here. as you use the device (this includes phone too), more files are created in the system, be it cache files or personal file. over some time the device becomes slower and will either requires a factory reset or flash to other light weight custom rom.

i have not made up my mind about getting one yet though.

Sadly those good tablet like Nvidia Shield K1, Nexus 9 or Asus ZenPad S 8.0 all not available locally, we either get lower spec version or none at all. Dilemma whether to hoot the K1 from Amazon USA or not.

This one should be called Shield Tablet X1, obviously, and according to GFX Bench, its Maxwell-based 256 core GPU might well be as fast and furious as advertised. So fast, in fact, that many graphics test results mark a twofold increase over last year’s 8-incher. Actually, you know what? Think of a tablet, any tablet. Then stop by GFX Bench’s database, and compare it to the Shield X1. You’re probably not going to believe it, but nothing can beat this bad boy’s graphics muscle… on paper.
