If you are going to use it nothing more than streaming, they are the same.

If you want to play games, run 64-bit apps, plex server, need more storage/memory and usb ports; consider getting a Pro.

I'm having issues enabling HDR on my nVidia Shield.
Dynamic Range is greyed out on it.

- Netflix app recognises the HDR but the colours are off
I'm using a 65HU9000 - is the problem with the cables?

Trying connecting straight to TV without anything in between. Make sure the HDMI on Shield is set to 10 bit. If it doesn't allow you set 10 bit, and shows 8 bit, then it's probably the cable or your TV doesn't support 10 bit. If none shows, make sure your TV HDMI signal settings is set to full/maximum (or something) or your TV just doesn't support. :)

For Dolby Atmos to work - I just need a Soundbar that is capable of decoding the format?

NVIDIA -> Soundbar ->(ARC) Display ?

I am having issue with display at this moment
Using Sharp 60UA6800UX. Netflix app on tv doesnt show Dolby Atmos though Soundbar is capable of support. I suspect there's issue with the arc on tv as older Soundbar have intermittent issue with it. The tv intermittently doesn't detect soundbar and play back via tv speakers instead.

Current Soundbar is Samsung Q90R. Previous Yamaha Yas207.

It’s the sound bar that process your Atmos, not tv.
Refer to this.

Guess u need to try the sound options available on nvidia shield and sound bar.

Hi guys, I just purchased my Shield TV and loving it. But I've a big issue, it doesn't play live channels of my 3rd party china IPTV app. The VOD have no issue at all and running seamlessly with great quality. There is definitely nothing wrong with the app because the live channels can be watched when I install in my old china TV box. So the problem lies in Shield unable to stream it. Any idea why? Any help is deeply appreciated.

how to help if you don't let the rest know what is the "3rd party iptv app"? is that seafood channels and you are too shy to mention?

Was very tempted to grab the Shield earlier. Did not realize it’s got problems with ‘chinese’ IPTV apps. Lucky did not go with Shield.
I realize Android TV also does not have native MeWATCH. Kinda odd.

I assume you are referring to apps like Dragon TV?

Nothing wrong with Nvidia Shield TV. The problem is those illegal IPTV packages.

He is referring to SVI Cloud, which has IPTV and IPTV box.

Not so sure about SVI Cloud, but recently lots of IPTV servers got seized by the Chinese authority, including Dragon TV and EVpad's IPTV servers.

All in all, none of these illegal IPTV packages can be stable for long time. You have to lower the expectations.

As for MeWatch, it is designed for mobile phone so the Android TV version of Play Store does not offer the app. You can always Cast to TV from mobile phone. Another such app is Starhub Go.

Specific to MeWatch, it is possible to sideload the apk but YMMV when it comes to user experiences. After all the app is designed for mobile phone.

Agree. It’s the illegal IPTV packages, but then again.. such ‘illegal’ (which some might refute on the legality of such services) apps are the main attraction and reasons why media boxes are selling so well. Thus we cannot denied that as an advantage. Would like to actually confirm if such apps do actually work, assuming that the sources are still valid in the 1st place. I see no reason why they should not work on the Shield.

Also, on MeWATCH. I’m not a Apple fanboy, but the fact that there is native app on Apple TV, already justifies its advantage. And thus, we should not be discussing alternatives such as ‘casting’ or hunting around for apks.

After all, most people buy such boxes for convenience and simplicity.
Perhaps one justifies the $$$ of a Shield due to its hardware superiority especially for gaming. Which most people, dun really game using medi boxes... especially if you have a PlayStation.

Haha, I bought an Xbox One S, an impulse buy as the offer is very attractive (with one more free controller). But then again I am not into gaming. So the Xbox One S is mostly idle there.

BTW, if you are just into those IPTV packages, then no need to buy Nvidia Shield TV lah. Mi Box S or some higher quality generic box (eh: Beelink S905X2 or S905X3 box) will do.

As for MeWatch, you do not need it if your TV has DVB-T2 Tuner, just add an antenna.

Certain apps are designed for the mobile phone version of Android, then they not work very well on Android TV OS, maybe SVI Cloud is one of the apps.

Quite some apps got Android TV OS version, then again they are not working as well as the mobile phone apps, for example, I have subscription for purevpn, but then the Android TV OS version does not have the options and server lists of the mobile phone version.

so far only heard of one 'chinese' iptv got problem.

mewatch is not android tv's problem. it is mediacorp's problem.

worse part is they have an app for appletv, and purposely make it not working on android tv os.

should call ...... to investigate the developer.

I find this ‘discrimination’ very odd also.
