Hi guys I recently change my cpu and realise the motherboard got slot for one of these m.2. but I'm unsure of what m.2 I can get. I want to transfer os from HDD to m.2 after

asrock h310m-g/m.2

1 M.2 (PCIe Gen2 x4 & SATA3)

The PCIe Gen2 x4 interface pushes data transfer speeds up to 20Gb/s. In addition, it also supports SATA 3 6Gb/s M.2 modules, and is compatible with ASRock’s U.2 Kit for installing some U.2 SSDs.

On the install guide it say it supports type 2230 , 2242 , 2260 , 2280.

Also says it supports nvme SSD as boot drive.

Now the thing is which 2280 type should I get? What's this support UP TO gen2 x 4 thing? Most of the brand never indicate this. I saw one box did write gen 3 x 4. Will it work?

So my question is with the information above . what m.2 does it's support? nvme m.2 or m.2? And which m.2 should I get? Budget is $130
I'm looking for 240gb above

Tldr : recommend me a m.2 for
asrock h310m-g/m.2

1.NVMe is an open standard developed to allow modern SSDs to operate at the read/write speeds their flash memory is capable of.

2. M.2 is just the form factor.
M.2 2230: 22 millimeters wide by 30 millimeters long.
M.2 2242: 22 millimeters wide by 42 millimeters long.
M.2 2260: 22 millimeters wide by 60 millimeters long.
M.2 2280: 22 millimeters wide by 80 millimeters long.
M.2 2210: 22 millimeters wide by 110 millimeters long.

3. The complicated part is the B,M or B+M key.
M.2 cards with a B Key interface can only fit into a B Key host slot, and likewise for M Key. But cards with a B+M Key design can fit in either a B or an M host slot, since they have gaps for both.**Check your motherboard specification to see which one is supported
