NVME SSD Speed lower than expectations

I've bought this NVME SSD 512GB from Transcend which states that their reading speed can go up to 3300mb/s but i'm only getting around 1600mb/s (which is about half)

Is this due to the fact that my motherboard is a older model and can't utilize the full potential of this SSD? (i've read up and saw it's something due to my motherboard using only 2 lanes while this SSD uses up to 4 lanes to run its full potential)

Sorry I'm very noob when it comes to computer stuff so I need some help here!

Your Nvme is PCIe 3.0X4 but motherboard is PCIe 3.0X2.0.
1969.2 MB/s max for PCIe 3X2.

Your nvme speed is only max pcie x2.

That's why.

Unless you change your entire motherboard u will never get the full speed

As others have pointed out, the SSD speed is limited by PCIe X2. Practically, I won't worry about it though. You will not notice the difference in daily use.

I will probably get a new motherboard next year with gen4 ryzen

I'm doing this on my relatives 2 PC's,.. dropping in 500GB NVMe and 16GB 3600Mhz C16 RAM knowing that they wont be fully utilized but when the CPU & motherboard get changed,... vroooooom!!!

Eh i bought 16GB rams too, except it's only 3200Mhz but i think it should be enough la, only looking at mid range pc after all

The older motherboards I am putting these in is a Gigabyte GA-H170-D3H and can only go up to 2133MHz dual channel. I tested with my G.Skill 3600 and they throttle down to 2133MHz but thats ok.

Enough for a mid range pc, 3200/3600 MHz is little to none difference for human eyes, 3200 kit can be tune to 3600 manually or using xmp profile with higher timings

edit: provided u r using b450 and above, jus read the older post u posted.

On a side note, what do you guys do with your old parts when you upgrade them? Like GPU, motherboard etc.

Mine are all in working condition which is why i'm not buying new ones yet but i feel that it's a waste since they still can be used but i have to keep them at one corner and then buy newer ones

Have you tried placing your Nvme ssd in the PCI 3.0 x16 slot using a PCI adapter? I bought a Samsung 970 Evo plus 500 Gb last week and plug into my motherboard (MSI H97 pc mate) via the above method since the motherboard lacks M.2 slot and I get Sequential read speed of 3200 Mbps and write speed of 2900 Mbps. The graphics card i just place in it a PCI 2.0 x16 with minimal impact the display since I am not a gamer.
