you dont have to agree or disagree. this is taught in economics and finance subjects. it is called interest rate parity
otherwise, why dont you change all your money to ringgit and earn the high interest rate said there? Cos the ringgit cannot make it. you may end up losing money.
and if RM is as strong as S$ and their interest rate is much higher, everyone would be rushing to change their s$ to rm. people like you and me will not have a chance.

Dun think u understand wat I'm getting that. ..
Anyways....

why not? there's no lock-in period for the funds and you're free to move it anywhere you want.

Hhm, okay, sounds good, but does anybody how they check that the amount credited is indeed from company; I mean for me, its pretty simple, but just hope that it goes smoothly.

I forgot to mention, I am already a OCBC savings account holder, so I was thinking of transferring some cash from my existing OCBC accounts to 360 account, are there any fees or charges I need to pay for that?

If OCBC makes it so difficult on the payroll additional 1%, u guys are just promoting a marketing gimmick to make the bank stand out over others.

No doubt 2.05% is not bad, however pls do not set criterias which the consumers cannot control. Payroll paid via payroll system still fails your criteria is simply asking for too much.

Why not you guys provide us the swift message for the salary credit?that will give us some proof that maybe the crediting bank is not doing something correctly. Rather than keep asking us to check with our bank.

fully agree. its impossible to get the bonus 1% for salary credit. I have spoke to my Company's RM as well as OCBC, whom both point fingers to the opposite bank with regards to getting GIRO-SALARY on the description.

I am sorry but have been following this; do you mean that if I want to get the interest on my salary, the transaction must read as "GIRO-SALARY"?

It appears so.... From reading the thread, I noted that its hard to get the Salary GIRO Transaction described as GIRO-SALARY -- since banks have different way of writing that transaction.

So its out of our control it seems? Unless your source of funds are also from OCBC?

I am really not sure; for now, it does state GIRO-Salary, and i understand that another 1% can be granted if you make at least 3 GIRO payments in a month.

personally for my company i know we use standchart and standchart uses GIRO-IBG as the code for salary crediting(accordingly to my company). but I still gotten the 1% for salary intake though.. one thing to take note is the 1% will be given on the 7th working day of the month. It is a different date from the base interest crediting.

yup. it must been shown as GIRO-SALARY. my company's bank payroll code appears as GIRO-IBG (MISC-SALARY), which does not qualify, I think.

Ok... You see now there are conflicting replies -- of experiences.

It just seems so unstable... some get it, some don't...

As ocbc has explained, it depends on the codes that the payroll dept or the company's bank use

I would think the majority do get the 1%, just that nobody knows cos they don't need to complain.

Sorry a bit noob here, was reading the previous pages.

Can I confirm - if the description for my salary is "SALARY-CR", does it mean that I won't be eligible for the extra 1% ? Must it be specifically "GIRO-SALARY"?

The description for salary is hardly under my control.. I feel my HR might kill me if I go to her, and ask if the description can be changed to "GIRO-SALARY". :(

Can the OCBC team clarify on this part?

The rich earns 10% interest, the middle income earns 3.05%, the poor earns 0.05% minus $2 fall below fee.
Hard truths!
