Dear OCBC, I am basically calling you out on this..

Having made a purchase at an outlet mall, the MCC is now told to me as not being in the categories that are auto awarded.

So where do we go from here??

We would like to remind everyone that 10x OCBC$ are automatically awarded for transactions made at merchants that fall within the MCCs OR one of the selected merchants that we recognise. This information can be found on our website.

As MCC codes are assigned by payment card organisations (e.g. Visa, MasterCard, American Express), which OCBC Bank has no discretion over, to avoid providing inaccurate information about MCCs to customers, we will no longer be able to advise on the merchant MCC.

Please note that the merchant's registered MCC may not always correspond with its nature of business. Also, a merchant may change their MCC at any time, and again, this is out of OCBC's control.

For example, a retail store can be registered as a Duty Free Store (MCC 5309) and Financial Institution (MCC 6012) even though it sells a variety of retail products, including electronics and gadgets and personal care.

If the merchant MCC does not fall within our list you will not earn 10x OCBC$ even if your transaction made contains specific items relevant to the eligible categories. We will no longer be able to grant exceptions for such purchases.

Hi there,

You do not have to meet a minimum spend to earn OCBC$ on the Titanium Rewards card.

Annual service fee will be waived for the first 2 years, thereafter you will have to meet a minimum spend of $10,000 within the card anniversary's year to be eligible for annual service fee waiver.

You may refer to https://www.ocbc.com/personal-banking/cards/card-promotions/petrol/index.html for the rebates you will be able to get for petrol transactions made on the card.

Maybe this will help. Says they all have MCC 5732 and are included. Having experienced too many OCBC exclusions I only use this card with the merchants specifically listed on the OCBC website and don't try my luck with MCC roulette.

Tbh I signed up titanium only recently cos i see OCBC so steady to advise eligibility for transactions which is not usually transparent to consumers... but now become template reply liao...
