Maybe cheaper ... but buy online can get 5 sets free with mixture of Windows & Mac (I am getting the 365 Home). Some of my kids use Windows and some use Mac ... so this is a good package ... but buy CD in box you are restricted to either Mac or Windows ... correct me if I am wrong ...

Office 365 is just the name given to the subscription service. I think MS's goal was to be paying for a subscription to use the service regardless of device/platform. In other words, each user/licence is entitled to one full PC experience regardless of Mac/Windows, as well as the corresponding number of smartphones/tablets. If I recall correctly, the MS Surface line of tablet PCs is the exception where you can elect to use it either as the computer licence or the tablet licence.

I have purchased the Office Home 365. Installed on my Mac without problem.

I am installing the 2nd one now on my wife's Mac.

It says one user is entitled to 1TB of Open Drive. Does that mean each user must have different Hotmail account ?

I want to install the 3rd copy on my laptop. If I install it using the same email that I used on my iMac (desktop), would I still be able to get the 1TB of One Drive ?

But if I install using a different email, then I won't be able to access the files I stored in the first One Drive ?

Each user must have a different hotmail account so that they can get the 1TB onedrive.
in the office that is tied to your subscription, you should be able to see an option to invite another 4 users.

if i am not wrong, you could sign-in/out of Office so you would be able to access the files stored in the first OneDrive.

thereafter they would be able to install it on their own.

However you will still have the master control on those users.

I realised when Word trying to retrieve the files, it is not that fast ... how do I sync the files in One Drive to my iMac ?

There is not much difference between Office 365 and Standalone version of Microsoft Office regardless whether its for Windows or Mac.

Office 365 requires the PC/Mac to be online so that Microsoft can authenticate client while the standalone version uses license key and activation mechanism and these are transparent to the end users.

if i am not wrong, the first time that you tried to retrieve the file might not be that fast. but subsequent retrieving should be better. This process is highly dependent on internet connection.

you could either open the file via Office or download the OneDrive app from Apple App Store and access it from there (this will be similar to how you use dropbox if you used dropbox before).

as jace as covered earlier Office 365 is just the name given to the subscription service.

so office for mac 2016 is an product under the big umbrella of office 365.

and as mentioned in my previous post, a standalone copy of office for mac 2016 will only be released in Sep 2015.

No need wait lah. Just register on microsoft office 365 website with your school email and you can download office mac 2016 for free immediately.

you could either open the file via Office or download the OneDrive app from Apple App Store and access it from there (this will be similar to how you use dropbox if you used dropbox before).

I have no problem synching with Dropbox and expect the method is the same but so far it is frustating.

I have downloaded the One Drive Apps. It is now located in the folder path Macintosh > Application

For a start, how do I place this OneDrive Apps on my taskbar.

Next, when I launched it, it asked me where is the location of my folder, I select Macintosh > Application and it always said the it kenot find !

Any tips ?

From my experience, they are more than sufficiently reliable. I use Dropbox & iCloud on a daily basis for the past few years and I am pretty satisfied.

But at the same time I do keep 1 or 2 copies on my local drive as a backup.

I personally dont keep any P&C files on the cloud. Too risky in the event of data theft or loss. I save it on my mac which has time machine backup.

I used Google Drive for non P&C stuff like e-magazines, menus of my fav restaurants, etc.

By taskbar do you mean the bar at the top? when the app is launched, there will be a cloud icon on the taskbar similar to Dropbox. If you are referring to the dock, there is an option to hide/show in the dock.

When you launch OneDrive for the first time, you will be prompted to login and thereafter choose the location of where you want to sync your OneDrive files to your mac. And it will give you the option on whether you want to sync everything or selected folders.

By the way, you should not select Macintosh > Application since that is the central location for all your apps.

I suggest that you delete the OneDrive app away and redownload from the app store before trying going thru the above steps.

i think the downtime for iCloud is significantly longer than Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive.
