Depend on individual needs. I getting mac 12" because it is more sexy and portable as I travel a lot. I am willing to sacrifice the processing power.

I thought they were making the iPad Pro (12") and also designing a clip on keyboard for it. And finally decided to join the two together. Permanently.

Lol that's a legitimate point which I still can't pull myself together on buying this mCrap.

Those who have been a long time Apple user will know that they always design a product with much thought and foresight given to it. Apple does not create something for the sake of making a quick buck.

That's why many do find their products appealing despite its pricing. MBA first gen was a perfect example. When it was first launched, some were concerned about its lack of DVD drive, slower processor, etc. But that set the benchmark for future ultra-thin notebook. All of a sudden, the competitors started to follow.

The NMB is the next future notebook. Now some are concerned about the lack of ports - USB, Thunderbolt, SD drive, etc. and the slow M processor. Also the pricing may be relatively high.

Majority of the tech journalists agreed that the NMB is the notebook of the future. Apple's intent with this new MacBook is to set the stage for wireless operation and portability. Granted, this NMB is not meant for everyone. That's why there's a range of Mac computers to suit different needs.

Basically you buy according to your usage, preference and budget. Whether this NMB is great or crap, it's subjective.

As for me, if I could, I would wait for the 2nd gen NMB. But my current MacBook (2006) is too old to be able to use the latest apps. So I have ordered because I need one now. I can live with what it's designed for.

While I understand it has its limitation, I read that the base model is able to handle light editing on Photoshop and even Final Cut. Running VM Is also possible but with some lag. Since I need to run windows through VM, I decided to upgrade to 1.3 GHz processor, which should be enough to ensure smooth running.

Personally I've seen and touched the NMB at Epicentre and love everything about it - it's sleek design, ultra thin and light weight, retina display, keyboard and Force Touch Pad. This NMB M processor computer is much better than the competitors based on the review I've read.

For now I just have to be patient and wait for another 4-5 weeks before I can get my hands on it.

just noticed, i haven't used my MBP USB ports for a very long time already, everything goes wireless or bluetooth.

one thing may cause inconvenient, SD card slot is also gone... guess i may still need to get USB-C to SD converter something, unless I upgrade my camera to be wireless ready too...

Yeah, SD Card may be an issue for some. For me this will not be my primary computer so there will definitely be other ways to transfer photos, but I may be inconvenienced while on holiday, though such occassions will be few and far between I suspect.

I think expectations must be right.

For me im using it for ppt, word and excel. Mostly ppt and i wld say its pretty good. Also did visio in vmw fusion. Decent speed.

I always tot i will not get used to having usbc alone but it proves to be ok. Unless u need to do troubleshooting using lan or use thumbdrive on the move else frankly its good

I travel quite a bit so the weight of this rmb12 is a big plus to be as well

glad to hear that vm works smoothly.

yeah expectation must be right, can't expect it to do lots of heavy lifting. most general consumers only use it for surfing net and watching video and this is more than sufficient.
