Saw some USB-C to USB-A cables from Belkin, was wondering if I can connect it to my iPad 12W power adapter so that I do not need to buy another power adapter for my MacBook. Won't mind the charging will be real slow...

The MacBook comes with a 29W USB-C Power Adapter though

i went to the shop to test it out with the display sets..

i just tested it out without checking the specs so not sure which model it is, but when i was on safari, i just open quite a few tabs.. bloomberg, marketwatch, twitter, and 2 brokerages webpage.. then it became not really responsive..

so i think i sticking to my mba early 2015 first.. maybe next year then i change...

The demo sets only have 1.1ghz Core M processors. The 1.2ghz and especially 1.3ghz offers significant performance increase. For eg 1.3ghz comes rally close with an i3 maybe.

if you are using it and charging at the same time, i don't think it will even charge.

because even the 12W for iPad is horribly slow. usually when i am charging and using it at the same time, it is barely charging.

Although the Macbook is incredibly light like an iPad, you need to remember that it is still ultimately a Notebook, with Notebook-like power requirements.

You can connect it at 12W, but be aware that in most cases this means that the power simply won't drain, but it won't charge either.

The macbook isn't exactly light as an iPad..
I find it quite heavy in my bag.

My macbook12 today suddenly showed problem charging.
It will intermittently charge and not charge when plugged in.

Kinda suck. Anyone facing the same issue before?



Reset the SMC but didn't work.

Well, I guess Apple quality also not so good as before. My MacBook 12 maybe used less than 10times.

Just to update. Went down to Alab and diagnosed my Macbook12. Charger was the issue. Got one to one exchange and great support there. All done within 30mins.

same, even on my rMBP, i hardly use the usb, but i do have a usb dongle for mouse that is plugged in permanently when I am using Windows. might be replacing it with the new razer orochi.

but of course i do understand my usage requirement so the new MB is not for mean for me

Honestly, "downgrading" from my MBP (HDD model) became an upgrade as the SSD speeds are so much faster. Data transfer is a plus point for me and the weight..... oh my weight!

The models at the shop are 1.1GHz. I hardly face that on the 1.2GHz with 512GB SSD version. That said, it does become not as responsive if you open a lot of tabs at one go - to be fair.

But still, it doesn't rev up or heat up so much. Note that this Core M processor is still relatively new.

the new orochi will only ship on 28 sep. are you using the previous gen? if yes, how is it?
the only thing holding me back is the bluetooth. i frequently bootcamp to windows to do work and i never had a good experience using bluetooth on Windows (seem more like OS issue).

saw some of my computer science classmates using the new macbook, shall ask them how was it.

but the weight is definitely a plus

Orochi is a great mobile mouse. The previous generation is already very good.

hasn't got it yet since the local store doesn't seem to stock them yet. but please explain.

the plus point for mx anywhere is that it works on glass surface, and orochi doesn't.
but orochi has higher dpi which is similar to the one I used while at my work desk.

Unless you’re gonna game, I see no point in orochi. I have both mice. Mx anywhere is ergonomic, feels really good and superior to that of orochi. Battery lasts a lot longer, insanely good scroll wheel and free wheeling, side scrolls too. Vivo challenger stocks them

i just gotten rmbp13 on january 2015.
and i have no regrets even tho they just refreshed rmpb13 with new force touchpad

It is actually quite frustrating like that. I bought my MacBook Pro 15 most high end model, that time 15 inch did not receive any upgrade like 13 inch announced. So I tot no upgrade for 15 inch so I went to buy it. Who knows less than two weeks they announced and upgrade with force touch pad and new dedicated graphic card and faster ssd with PCIe 4 lanes. I was like "wt....".
