i gotta question for the overclocking gurus here.
im interested in getting another evga 8800gts so i can run sLi with my config,
but i need to know a few things.
Are gpu's like processors, whereby the overclockability depends on your luck. Whether u got a good card or bad card.
And do brands affect the overclockability?
Cos from what i've seen on the [H]ard forums is that the more overclockable 8800's come from either eVga or XFX.

Anyway, my 8800gts is able to run stable at 675mhz/1053mhz.
This considered a good overclock? or can i push more?

Wow, what the load temperature of your 8800gts at that overclock?

load is around 66-69 degrees. think its because i attached a 9mmfan to the back of the card above the gpu.

I am intending to borrow Window XP from my friend and install it right on this rig and run the same overclock speed to see how much better it scores.

Yo Nightraven, i think i finally understood what you mean. Brenching for the highest score = so long can run a complete 3Dmarks06 and get the score can liao right.

If the above is true, i tried cpu oc 3.6Ghz (temperature 70-75...HOT) and vga oc to 685 core speed, score is 14610. With Window XP, i believe i can smell 15000 but scared at the same time smell my computer burning:D .

Ok, i got 2 route to go now. Need suggestion: Should i now sell off this poor overclocking Q6600 G0 chip and buy a new Q6600 G0 or should i use this chip for now and buy myself a Yorkfield or Penryn later?

haha yes thats right

haha keep this la bro. the main thing abt this chip is to tame the heat. if u cant do tt then yea. and no one keeps track of temps during 3dmark06 :D cuz its only a short while so push as far as u can..

70 to 75 is technically within the operating temps of a quad core.. so... yea. haha u can push it but not for 24/7 use.
