Meanwhile, does anyone know whether the 680m variant will be available soon? Read some reports saying that it is juz a little faster than the 7970m...

Just to add, I have read from various forums that the 7970m is way better than GTX675m. No disputing that, but as a casual gamer, will I know the difference? I am currently playing Diablo III now, other games i play are like C&C and Starcraft...no FPS for me. Other than that, I usually use my PC to watch movies and surf the net only. So is the difference in gfx card likely to make any diff to me?

the 680m is a little better but at a much more expensive price. If you have the spare $$ then you could go for it. But personally, the slightly difference won't justify the price between both 7970m and 680m

Although you won't see much difference for the games you are playing now, when it comes to more graphic demanding games, the 675m won't be able to deliver as the performance is weaker than the 7970. You can see the other forum on the benchmarks on the 7970 and 675m. The difference is quite big.

Lol I will tell u save ur money and go for 7970 even if u wan gtx680m the alienware one only comes with 2gb...so far the 7970 does everything very well...just get it first and mayb e down the road later buy the bare gtx680m 4gb model which now cost 1.5k

I paid using 12-month interest free instalment using my Citibank credit card.

Delivery will be to your door step, and based on the schedule, I will only receive it mid July...

As advised by the bros here, I called up customer service and asked to speak to Jaslene Kuan. And yes, she pretty much tries to package everything to what you want and based on your budget!

My case was this: I wanted the $4,099 model but with the 7970m. She said that this was a promo package, coz truth is if you customise up from the $3,699 model, it will set you back close to $4.4k. So I asked what can she do for me...and I added that becoz I qualified for the employee purchase program (epp), i expected a 15% discount, which determined my budget of about $3.5k thereabout.

So she told me she can work something out to mirror the $4,099 model with 7970m but she can only give me MS Win7 home premium instead of the ultimate. That did not matter much to me so I went for it, albeit I lost out a little after some pedantic calculations

But now...yes, NOW - I just checked Dell SG's website. The GTX680m upgrade option is available, albeit at a hefty price! I am hoping I did not make a wrong choice with the 7970m coz most review forums are reporting a 5-10% improved performance over the 7970m.

But as I said, too late to regret now!

It's glossy, which is one of the main reason I bought dell precision m6600 over m17x. The anti-glare protectors never quite work nearly as well as a matte screen with ionizer and stuff.

Actually, calling her is faster...just dial Dell Direct and ask for her....if she is busy, can leave name and contact details and she will definitely call back...
