If me i would choose the m17xr4 which is priced at $2499. The gtx660m is pretty good unless your are hardcore like me, i upgraded from gtx660m to gtx680m myself with msi vbios and never looked back. Avoid the 675m gpu, i heard there is temp throttling issue with it. You can consider the 675mx which is pretty awesome too if you feel gtx680m is too expensive.

at first they quoted me 3600sgd for GTX680m SLI. Told them it was more expensive than my laptop or price was a mistake.

I done the gtx660m to gtx680m in m17xr4 before myself. the card cost me about 900+sgd alone. It works fine or even better than dell 2gb cards. I can overclock without issues or throttling vs dell gtx680m 2 gb card and hdmi output all working fine no issues at all.

Dell is charging $1600 for it too when i inquire thats why i rather do it myself lol.

hi guys, finally got my m17x r4 frm Comex. amazing deal frm the booth after I trade in my old lappy, I paid less den 2k for everything, enough to get cooling pad n xtra stuffs

Main thing is is it good enough for this spec, to play recent high end games?
it seems that some games minimum criteria or even suggested spec is more or less the gtx 660m specs.....
anyone can enlighten me.....

Anyway i have 2 x gtx680m up for sale if you interested. Might upgrading to gtx780m once i found a buyer although it doesn't really offer much performance gain coming from gtx680m to gtx780m. But if your are coming from gtx660m to gtx680m its a very huge leap like 140% performance gain.

Its probably the performance gains from new model is not much and new models will bring down the price of old models. Other than the gpu being the most expensive in the latop i would get an older model too if the price is nice. Looks wise i still prefer the old m17x vs the new m17x. The new m17x keyboard just puts me off.

yeah it's certainly true that the performance gains in the CPU are minimal.. but not the GPU! 780m is a lot faster than 680m.

I have M17x R3 and I like the design, but I can't see myself buying an R4 now unless it's really a great deal compared to a new R5.

Bro check the alienware forums on my benchmarks on the gtx680m.i can do 7k 3d mark 11 with a custom vbios. Its almost as fast as stock 780m. If i didnt overclock its like 20% performance gain over gtx680m not really a worthy upgrade coming from 680m.

Actually the R3 also can use gtx780m they are the same chip as gtx680m gk104. I dun really like the idea of selling for a huge loss and pay a premium for a new machine.

Hi, that is true I certainly don't doubt that, but how many people are going to swap in their own video card with custom vBios? Maybe 1 or 2 in 100 people? The rest are just going to use what comes with the laptop, right?

EDIT: oops misread that, actually many people do swap the gfx cards themselves for an even bigger boost, but my point is just that most people would just run it at stock instead of oc-ing, running custom vBios, or generally tweaking with the laptop in any way.
