weather very cold there? so very suitable for mining? free heater :D

I first heard about bitcoin last year feb from a friend when the prices hit US$50-60 or even higher ... didn't wanted to go into mining, too much work it seem to me.. would like to have bought ASICs that time but all vendors of ASICs back then are all delaying shipment and have to preorder.. even lagi slow... and didnt buy any mining hardware in the end..

did buy my first bitcoin in April... sold somewhere June.. rebuy again in Aug.. sold in sept only to see it to rise and rise beyond 1000  missed the boat.. :D (just like stocks, after i sell it will up and up :s13:)

first started mining last month, after seeing my friend mine dogecoins... so I also bought 1 gpu to start mining..:s22:

Such stories. Many heartbreaks. Mine Dogecoins. To the moon! Wow

Started reading a month back, finally decided to try it out today.

woah.... my gfx card fan spinning like mad....

my simple setup as

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer.exe -I 12 -g 2 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8192

anything that I should change? running of 7970, tried intensity at 13 but fan was way too loud.... so moved it down to 12...

any kind souls willing to donate some dogecoins to me? :D

Of course it's spinning like crazy. It's working like crazy hehe. Check your heat. Intensity is kinda low. What hash are you getting? From what I know. 7970s like g1 better with high thread Concurrency

Dont have to worry about the fan noise, i would be more concerned with the temperature of the 7970 if i were u. If theres a need, u could run a usb fan directed at the gpu and that might help decrease the temps by around 1 or 2 degrees.

Also, tweaking the engine and memclock of ur 7970 could help improve hashrates.

My 2cents ^^

Getting 357khash rate mining doges from the 780. Temps about 65. Can get 400plus but lowered the power limit cos of temps.

should i continue?

Max temps of around 70-75 is pretty much okay. Around 80 ur on the high side, about 85 degrees i would discontinue.

The temperature that u should actually be more concerned with is the vrm temps. Usually the vrm is at least 15 to 20 degree higher than the gpu core temp. If u need, there is gpu z to monitor ur vrm temps. Its not advisable to run ur vrm temps above 100 degrees (which is around 80-85 core temp) since that will greatly reduce the lifespan of ur gpu.

i see. so what should i do to increase hashrate now? Still quite new to mining so not very sure what to do since my clocks are just slightly bumped to +6 for core and mem. Also i decreased my power limit to 68% and using T12X11 for minebat.

Fan speed is at max as well.

Not too sure of nVidia mining tho, esp since its architecture is not optimal for mining. U could try -H 1 -l T12x32 -C 2 -o, this is from one of the litecoin mining threads on reddit in which the user posted about 470 to 480 khs for this setting. Of cuz temps will go up, but i do believe the 780 was designed for higher temperatures since its throttle point is at 80 degree. I would say the best temp range u should set ur settings for is around 75 - 79.

For starters, I would recommend going for 280X card (sapphire, msi, gigabyte) for substantially higher hash rate. But thats beside the point :)

Hmm i see. What does -C mean and-m mean on the mine bat?

im using T12X20 up from T12X11 originally. 100+hashrate increase so far but i dont want to strain my gpu in terms on lifetime as its my only one for gaming. Until maxwell that is..:s13:

extra expenditure here. You can watercool your cards :s12:

but i heard watercool cost a bomb :(

no capital on hand to invest anyway also. all my 2.5k saved up > maxwell already. Then probably start mining on these when they come out. Shoud be a beast by then.

Not telling you to watercooling your entire system hehe. Just get the kraken g10 plus those cheap all in one coolers. Shouldn't cost you more than 150

Provided Nvidia does something with their architecture to make mining more efficient. Currently it's all in the red camp.
