Can check out Rodalink for the Polygon Helius series roadies.

They seem to garner great reviews for those with a budget in mind. They're very very value packed and at below $1k?, I think its a great buy.

No experience with that model but I've been in enough group rides to see quite a number of new roadies riding them.

And yeah, a road bike would do the job well. Forget about the hybrid.

MTB noob here. Just got my new ride today. Ordered the red/white combo but was told by the LBS uncle that the new shipment only has all-white and all-black combos. Googled but couldn't find any references to the new colours... but ordered the white anyway. Experts pls advise if this is authentic...

Anyway, the "new" version turned out nicer than expected! Many of the stock components are upgraded/changed in this new version too. Spot the upgraded parts:

Just confirmed there is a rather stiff link on my bike chain causing chain skipping when cycling, any idea how much the bike shops charge for replacing a chain?

Thx.

you can try fidget it a little to see if the stiff link smoothen up.

normally they don't charge for labor if you buy the chain from them, entry chains are less than, $30?

noob at road bikes! need alot of help! please :)

hello avid cyclists!

i am currently interested in doing my 1st triathlon, hence i tink i need a low end road bike to attain my goal.

been looking around the web ... hmm

plans to go to a few locations to search out Trek, Giant, Polygon bikes, but i guess it is quite tough looking around with so little knowledge at hand

i am very curious about the parts of the bike, especially shimano parts, can some experience biker give me a list of shimano sets which can be found on bikes sold here? from the best to the not-as-good ones please! thanks.

and by the way, my budget is around 500+ ... definitely not going above a thousand.

and please note that i am a newbie, so i tink a budget road bike will do, dun spam me those models out of my budget, cus i am definitely sticking to my humble budget.

oh btw when is the month of the year end sale for rodalink bikes? i read from somewhere under this forum that this sale exist, so i thought i may just hop around when it starts.

please answer my queries if you know sth! thanks alot for any help!

(btw i posted this at sgclub too, just to get more replies, hope u guys dun mind =D)

Hi guys,

I'm also another new guy who is just starting to have a healty lifestyle by going cycling.
Am interested in investing a trial/mountain bike to cycle to the parks, going distance (targeting 1 night cycle like for eg. East coast to west coast etc).

As I'm quite new, and don't know much about bikes, I really hope you guys can recommend me something decent and value for money.

I've a budget of not more than 1.2k.

I've only been to Scotts recently and checked out a few models like the Scale & Aspect series. In particular, am looking at the Scale 70 & Aspect 20 or 30.
Any pros here care to recommend any good choices?

Or any better choices ard? I've heard from my friends brands like GT, Kona, specialized etc which suits my budget.

Or how about Canondale? What's a rough range of a canondale mountainbike?

Thanks for the help ppl. Really appericiates it.
