wah this one i gotta agree. i went last week to get my fork fixed up i felt like he was gonna chew my head off or something

but i was partly to blame la cos i keh kiang, tried to fix a fork in myself and effed up simply put the bearings and base :s13:

however, i learnt that you must speak his language. i joined in the cheeky convo he was having with his kakis who were there and he lightened up. in the end charged me only 8 bucks for fixing up my fork! i was expecting way more! when i went to pay and his wife heard he was charging me only 8 she like a bit stunned also, still must ask again LMAO :s31:

my 2 cants:

Effective top tube length is more important than seat tube length or size, not all M are created equal. Depending on your riding, geometry would be different. Of course it can be compensated by stem length and seatpost, but better to get the right frame.

It took me almost 2 years and 5 frame to get what I want.

An example: For me, I am 1.79 also, and I ride 70% road, 10% pavement, 20% offroad.

I ride a Titus RacerX M with a 23.38 inch top tube with 90mm stem (any shorter will be twitchy for me and any longer, the bike will feel retard.) and a 0 setback seatpost. (If I use a setback, my CG will be on the rear wheel which makes it not so good to chiong, and if I reverse the setback post to set forward, CG will be set too forward, go downhill offroad will not be stable.) This is just the tip of the iceberg, 1001 factors to fit and geometry. and everybody have different hand leg and body length, different riding style. To make things more complicated, riding styles are corrected on the way and riding style may change. If most on road, I suggest you can try some L size bike. If offroad, can try M or even S. smaller frame = more nimble.

Pay him better sometimes. Sometimes u bring the thing to him, he do for u, after that kennah fug by him for screwing things up, but he don't want to charge money.

I can totally empathize with your frame searching. I had done through 5 frames changes myself before taking up this Titus Moto Lite with a 23.38 top tube and 80mm Stem. For seatpost, I always have two , zero setback and setback sit post to play around with.

i've heard from people which said that polygon bike are either very good or very jialat. is this true?

Polygon is just another brand. In terms of components vs price, it is one of the most value for money. If got budget constrain and intending to upgrade once got money, can just buy a polygon with the components you want and swap out to a better frame in future.

You can try SCH and LNT. Both at Tampines.

Giant road bike are pretty decent. If best value over components must be polygon road bike.

raleigh road bikes at $400+....go taman jurong KT Wong...got a couple there....

just a question about raleigh bikes, i heard from some of the shop owners that the reason why they're so cheap is because they're from china n the parts are no good, no durability, not lasting etc.. What are you guys take on this?

and also, if i were to choose between a merida 800 plus from lnt tampines, or giant ocr3 alum at 900, or a scott speedster 60 at 1000plus but negotiable from sch tampines,

which one should it be? thanks

Most bic are made in china. Even those high end bic parts are made in China.

Those raleigh bic are at $400 is beoc of the spec and component. Nothing regarding durable or not. I seen those $400 raleigh. They are using Shimano 7 speed SIS system. How can a $400 7speed shimano SIS be compare to a $900 Helios 300 Sora 9 speed bic?

Sora is a intergrated system whereby the brake and gear shift is at yr fingertips where 7 speed SIS system is separated. Brake and gear shift is at different location. U need to put yr hand away from brake to do gear shifting.

Dangerous and inconvience in my opnion...

Regarding the few bics u mention. It all depends on the component on the bic. Nothing to do with the brand name. But assume, all three abt the same. I will take scott speedster cos of the frame. Which is light and the handling of the bic is speedy... If u have read up bicycling magazine. Scott speedster has always got good review and it always mention speedy of it. Of cos, if speed is yr top priority concern. There is also a lot of factor to consider.
