Can I have one of these 20mm training rounds?????

Did they take the M61 Vulcan out of the F15??

Edit: seems like these aren't training rounds, no blue rounds...

Thanks. =) Am still learning and wish to be a student of photography. It's a philosophical question I asked, not so much to belittle your work - it is great and I really like it. It's just that I'm looking at the various forms of photography. Also picked up a couple of books - the latest one was Freeman's The Photographer's Eye, and I notice a huge emphasis on getting the photo right the first time.

Just

Seriously, chunk the book aside.
Get a decent DSLR which suits you and just shoot.
Join events and photography competition to improve your
skills.

The key here is 'keep shooting.'

Just a question to everyone: Whatever happened to pure photography? Where the image is shot and used straight out of the camera without any post?

I know the argument for post-processing, etc. But perhaps consider
1) Pure out of camera
2) Minimal post processing - perhaps of the nature of simply clicking the "auto" button, or not more than 30seconds of minimal processing - white balancing, adjusting contrast/levels, etc...

/Dan

I believe the majority of landscapes photos go through long hours in post before they are published. If you are looking at SOOC, then you should look at other genres, like street or maybe even portraiture. Streets capture the moment, thus there's no way to do blending. You have full control of the light for strobists, so you can get the lights right in camera.

Btw, who says film is SOOC. they also do post on the film itself

I know its not your pic, and I know whose it is :s13:

Anyway, I don't recommend pushing your shadows or highlights to extremes. Halo will start appearing. But of course, the limit of such recovery is dependent on your camera. So you need to understand your camera and what it can do to help u make godly images.

How i wish i am as rich as you to get canon 5d mk3 just to shoot jpeg out of it :s8:

Really depends on photographer, those who shoot stock photos
like myself. We do post-processing within the camera.
For me, I usually shoot in JPEG as you never know whether
this shot can reused or used for media purposes or not.

When you submit shots that are post-processed, they will
know and reject the photo. FYI, my camera is always in P mode.
I constantly check:
1) Composition, if not in line I reshoot by readjusting my position
2) Cropping, since I use zoom lens. Zoom lens is a good cropping
tool other than using PS
3) Lightning - Adjust white balance if colour is dull or wash out.
Use flash to get a better exposure.

Take a look at my flickr account (In my signature), all are fresh
out of the camera.

low shadow/highlight will make the photo very grey and flat as well
