Anyone keeping or has experience keeping chilli rasbora?
I bought some yesterday. Curious little creatures. But they are not eating when i feed them the Ocean Free food.
Continue to feed them? Any idea?

Thanks.

Maybe you can buy micro pellets from china or multi crisps of brand such as Tetra to see if they eat.
Surprising, not all fish eat Ocean Free.

My dwarf gourami takes micro pellets from china and not Ocean Free brand

those displaying this symptom most likely no hope liao.

Ya. Newly bought fishes were from a brownish color water tank in shop.
Before introducing to my tank, 1/3 water mix and then 2/3 water mix in an hour interval respectively.

New water change of 60% was over night tap water

My guess is the new fishes itself ain't healthy in the first place

Btw do u guys test your water quality regularly?

i always see all the fishes in the LFS before buying.
if 1 species got white spot for example, i will not buy any fish from this shop.

if i buy, i will use drip method.
if the bag comes with 3L of water, i will drip 3L of my tank water into that bag over the next 1 hr.
then i will pour away 5L of the water and drip another 3L from my tank.
than pour away most of the water before introducing the fish into the tank.

Good tip, but drip method tedious for me

Besides the water in LFS, some could be with aquarium med to keep the fishes healthy, however after I brought them home, then realised one had fin rot

Is aquarium salt needed?

Yes. Over 2 hrs.

Today change 60% water as some were shimmering (shaking)

60% is alot. Again, you need to add the water slowly back to replace this 60% to prevent shock to the fishes.

Usually I change 10 to 20% only, personally

The volume of water change very much depending on the type of fish you keeping, the bio load, tank size and the frequency of water change.

The key still the speed one top up with new water back into the tank.

There mouth very small. So the food should be fine like powder. If u can see is pellet means too big

I think the chilli rasbora will die. They are not eating and I cant guarantee they will eat if i buy new food. And i need to crush them to fine powder to feed.

Actually i can tell u MOST of the LFS wont do any acclimate the fishes properly before selling and they also dun feed.
CHeap fishes.

Just pour in one.
So when buying just be careful.

i use the ISTA drip pail for more delicate fishes else...i will just use a clip . clip the bag in the tank...use a small cup , when i walk pass just scoop 50ml tank water pour inside ...do many times after an hour or 2 catch the fish into the tank.

Dun remember i have any fish dying on me the first couple of days before.

i do see some fish shops feeding their fishes tubifex worms
not a problem if feeding live food at home but some fishes will refuse dried food for a couple of days as they are used to live food
ever encountered a few stubborn fishes totally will not consider dried food as food and rather starve

always good to quarantine the fish for at least a week before mixing them with your existing population.
