Lived here for almost 20 years and this is what I get:
1. A pretty shiatty Compass One mall that went through renovation once and remained pretty shiatty (No cinema, not much dining options and a shiatty management that is lazy to develop an app for points redemption) while we see neighbouring malls like Waterway Point being much better in terms of options.
2. A lousy air-conditioned bus interchange and because of space constraints (or poor planning), had to build a new extension outside the mall (named Compassvale interchange). The most epic fail about this "air-conditioned" bus interchange is that you can't feel any air-con inside and there are fans installed all over the bus interchange just to keep it cool.
3. Lousy bus services. Other than Bus svc 80, no other services to town, meaning that you would have to take the NEL. In the past, when the NEL breaks down, it took the bridging bus 1h 30mins to travel from Sengkang to Hougang. Ended up 3 hours late for work.
4. The hyped-up Sengkang Hospital. My father-in-law, who also stays in Sengkang, had to go for follow-ups after his heart bypass surgery. But guess what, he was told to go KTPH instead as they do not have the facilities/staff to do so. So, what's the use of having a hospital here in my neighbourhood?

one of the messiest malls i ever seen. lol
Rivervale mall was still doing alright back when SK is still in its infancy, there was only 3 shopping centres total then.Rivervale....that mall is like no choice cos that's the only one in the vicinity.

Wahh hahhaa. The last time it was under sengkang. Lol. Well... Guess we work in mysterious ways. Haaaa

I agree with the bus interchange.. For the longest time I can rmb, the aircon is down until a few years ago they upgraded it. That pinoy stall and tau hwey popup were removed cos of it. Before the upgrade, the interchange is warm all the timeLived here for almost 20 years and this is what I get:

I think the plan was that when NEL and LRT is up, then the bus service is minimal. But ppl want more bus instead. So 80 was kept, 371 revived and 372 addedAgree Sengkang mrt / bus integrated bus interchange is a failure and it is too small. Hope the upcoming Buangkok one will be bigger bus interchange.
Considering nearby HDB flats, it should also be in SK GRC this time round.the new hub coming up at buangkok mrt there under this GRC?
Please la. Koh Choong Yong is still with the WP.
Punggol East is Sk GRC.
I used to stay there and my folks still do so I checked for them haha.
