During the middle of the last GFC i bought one penny 100lot at 10c. I gambled with 10K thinking at most i lose the money. Rest of my capital were deployed to stronger ones like capland. In the end no win no lose for my other stock except that one penny. Finally sold it for 20K gain. At one time when the penny was down to 6c i was wondering if i made the right decision.

This time round can try the same trick. Take 5K to buy some penny at 0.005c. Then hope that it will go to 2c. As long as the penny no up lorry means got chance right?

Rest of hard earned money put in ES3. Idea okay?

I don't need 1 million.

Just 20K gain.

What we need to look for is a penny that we think will not up lorry after this crisis. I would think probably 75% of the pennies in the SGX today will survive this crisis. And probably half of them would double or triple their value in two to three years down the road. Don't even need a viable business plan, just ride the uptrend wave.

So the idea is to identify a probable stock and put 5K into it. Lose we lose, it is 5K. I would say the odds are definitely more favorable than lottery.

For example I would quote LIONGOLD. It is a risky stock. it is now 0.004 cents. Question is whether it would survive this crisis. If yes, I don't see why it cannot become a 2 cent stock in two years. Don't need to justify business plan. Just a long as it survive. I quote this stock because I owned it's shares (unfortunately). I would look for another penny to punt. It is a small punt. It is not like we put all our money into this. Maybe 5 to 10% of our warchest.

u wanna play penny might as well buy 4D or Toto

better odds leh

$1 can become 1 mil

Sembcorp Industries may inject funds or buy full control of SembMarine: sources

SINGAPORE (Jan 19): Singapore's Sembcorp Industries may inject funds into Sembcorp Marine or buy full control of the drilling rig builder to replenish finances strained by a collapse in oil prices, people familiar with the matter said.

Sembcorp Industries — almost half-owned by state investor Temasek Holdings — is the parent of Sembcorp Marine which analysts said is at risk of writing off assets and cutting its full-year dividend.

"It’s quite clear that financial support has to come in and a take-private is one of the easier options, but ultimately there needs to be a long-term solution," said one of the people, who were not authorised to speak publicly on the matter and so declined to be identified.

Sembcorp Industries owns 61% of Sembcorp Marine which services an oil industry plagued by oversupply. The plunge in oil prices to multi-year lows has led to a drop in orders for rigs and cancelled contracts.

Sembcorp Industries could therefore benefit from selling the rig builder and focusing on its profitable utilities business, analysts said.

One buyer could be larger rig-building rival Keppel Corp, 21% owned by Temasek.

“The natural buyer and a merger candidate clearly is the offshore marine business of Keppel,” said one banker, who declined to be identified.

"But the issue with any combination necessarily is that the upside there is cost-cutting."

Bankers involved in the sector said a single domestic champion could make sense to counter competition from China and South Korea. However, the likely option is for Sembcorp Industries to take full control of its subsidiary.

Sembcorp Industries, Sembcorp Marine and Temasek declined to comment. Keppel, which is due to report earnings on Thursday, also declined to comment.

ORDER CANCELLATIONS

Since the beginning of the millennium, Singapore's two rig builders have risen to dominate the global market for jackup rigs, which drill in depths of as much as 122 metres (400 feet). Sembcorp Industries and Keppel discussed a merger in 2001.

But with the drop in oil prices, Singapore's US$10 billion rig building industry faces a dearth of new orders, while some orders are at risk of cancellation.

For instance, the bulk of orders at both Sembcorp Marine and Keppel are from Sete Brasil, an indebted affiliate of state-run Petroleo Brasileiro SA Petrobras. Sete Brasil has paid neither since late 2014.

Both Sembcorp Marine and Keppel are trading at their lowest valuations in at least 13 years, Thomson Reuters data showed.
short noble, everyone enthusiastically buying due to sci scm and keppel suddenly chiong...

end up temesek not buying them out...
