That's why I truly encourage people who are not into the jailbreak scene to upgrade and download the Find My iPhone app on your phone. Set it up and you are good to go.

The iPhone 5s is for lazy people but who are concerned about security. Set up the pass code once and your finger print after that. From then on, your iPhone is virtually valueless to a thief.

Safest way is to be careful. Can't imagine how people lost iPhone and esp iPad.

Agreed. Reminds me on my pain when I lost my iPad earlier this year.

Even you are able to disable or lock your iDevices so what if that person don't feel like returning it at all.
My friend is lucky. No passcode at all the guy who found it make the effect to return to him on the same day.

It's fine if he don't return. I want to make sure he cannot profit from financially or otherwise.

If he makes my life miserable, I want to make that person irritated by not being able to do anything with it as well.

With the new security feature, it will at least prevent people from selling / buying it. No doubt one will lost a phone forever but the phone cannot be sold as well. It just a useless piece of paperweight.

Make a police report and hope that one day the phone can be recovered.

Slim chance doesn't mean no chance.

You need to activate find my iPhone on the phone first.

Moving on, the phone will be lock to your iTunes account. Even restore will require your iTunes account to activate.

Once you have the feature enabled, even DFU back to ios 6 is useless and prompts old id password during activation .. I have tried :)
