I read from US sites that AppleCare+ has this pro rated refund feature. Say you upgrade your phone after 1 year, the unused 50% of AppleCare+ can be refunded though subject to a service fee.

Is this really true and also applies to SG?

If you referring to outside shop , well they might be cheaper but do not forget u will lose the water resistant feature if u do at outside shop. Also workmanship might be bad and U end up with a faulty phone that give u more problem and waste more time making return trips.
Second if u have a crack on the screen so meaning u had dropped the phone and it will have cosmetic damage so I will go for the 1-1 replacement which is only $148 which is way way cheaper than the $500plus(price is for ip6/6s , not sure of ip7 price)

TG protect the screen 100%?? I know of a few cases that the TG is intact but the screen cracked for Iphone after dropped with casing some more. Nothing is 100%

It is a very subjective debate on to get AppleCare+ or not and is it worth it?!?!
As long u can afford the AppleCare+ and u can get to use the phone without worrying too much then why not?

hmmm..does repairing a screen really cost more than $228 + 42 = $270?

BTW, most people get tempered glass protectors nowadays... is it really still a big risk nowadays?

is the $148 paid surely able to get replacement? what I worry is they just 'repair' the fault... for eg if droppwd and scratch, screen crack and camera loose etc, then they just fix the camera and screen... or if water damage, they just change the board and outside casing still same. since they switch to repair model now....and cosmetic issue they don't bother.

still debating with myself whether to get applecare.

anyone done before and able to feedback on this?

$148 is a 1-1 replacement for sure.
Unless u opt for screen repair which is $42.
If you still worry then activate the ERS direct from apple , or should there be any reason they refuse you a replacement just call apple direct and they will work it out for you.

sincere question: w/o applecare, can one still seek apple's help in repairing defects like screen crack etc? if yes, how much would it cost?

i used to use this in 6splus and it is working fine.
now with ip7plus, the reading is quite off.

thats why exploring others.

do you have the same issue?

just checked my readings & it's accurate.

readings may be off as telcos are not actually billing mobile data for some apps.

Yes they will still repair for you but the price will be diff.
Example for 1-1 replacement will be $500 or 550 instead of $148 under AppleCare Plus.

just for info... i had apple care + before during ip6 time..
i had unresponsive home button.. chatted with apple support and they gave me new phone via express replacement... i didnt pay anything. but they only sent me a phone only no new accessories... provided that my phone has no water damage ... no need to pay $148 according to them.... my hubby's phone also got same battery issue... before his 2nd yr... ask for replacement as well.. no charge... but they will hold off certain amount on your card first when they receive the old phone that has no water damage they will not charge your card....

I see, thanks for clarifying. Looks like I am getting AppleCare +.
Got it for my ip6, but that time was much cheaper so now increase price a bit doubt.

There's actually a vertical line on the screen but I think the image can't show clearly. Anyway, just want to check - if purchase from Telco and there is defect within 7 days, I will still have to proceed to Apple right?

Guys, have anyone trade in their phones at ah beng shops before? I just bought AP+ for my IP7Plus and my plan is to use my phone naked for the year then when IP8Plus comes out next year, I'm gonna use the Express Replacement Program to get a refurbished phone then trade in to ah beng shop.

Will Apple take the original box when I do the ERP? Or will the ahbeng shop not take in the refurbished phone since the IMEI is different?

Hope some bros can shed some light on this

any charges for ERP for those not on AppleCare+?
