Club med @ 6K all in for a water villa is pretty expensive if it doesn't include airfare. I went to Club Med a few years ago and found it rather enjoyable. Only gripe I had was the number of people and the usage of sea water to flush the toilets.

However, for a little bit more, I would stay at Maafushivaru, which is all inclusive and adults only. You get honeymoon perks like a bottle of wine, a beachfront dinner etc as well. And the place never feels crowded.

Depends on your budget and how far you are willing to travel.

Budget up to S$400 per night. I don't mind other islands so long the hotel or resort has speedboat transfer to and fro airport..

Planning to go there over CNY next year, if my friend flakes on me then I'll just travel solo. Reckon its good weather for snorkelling during that period? And any ideas which island will be a good place to hopefully catch the glowing plankton at night?

Ok then it's a pretty decent price. Do note that the side trips are not free and cost a pretty penny. ie. Seaplane ride, sunset cruise, day trips etc.

If you only wanna travel by speedboat, then your range from Male is very limited. Even to club med from Male is ~ 45mins iirc.

I would think full board doesn't include drinks during meals. All inclusive is all in.

I'm not sure if it's across resorts in Maldives. But for us, we bought full board that includes 2 bottles of 500ml mineral water per day and free flow of coffee/tea/juices that are at the buffet for breakfast only. However they do have kettle in our room. Big bottle of mineral water (1.5L) is sold at USD5 at our resort.

Kettle, some provide, some don't. Ditto mineral water. And all inclusive includes drinks and stuff like afternoon tea etc. Full board generally doesn't but it varies from resort to resort.
