ML - can check with you on ssb?

for instance if i apply the bond for the mar issue, which is 2.38% which means it will be locked for this rate and if next mth should the rate fall or rise, it will not affect right?

There is a thread in moneymind for all things SSB.
Anyway, it's a step up interest, over 10 years, that's the average interest rate you get. Not every year get 2.38%. And yes the interest rate is locked in.

ssb is a ******** and phail product. i said many times already. lock in 10yr average and ur returns is still more cui than cpf.

for the above to be true, assumption here is u are going to use your cpf to buy house or ur children's education.

otherwise you're better off with reits or a portfolio mix, or even fixed D at foreign banks

Cpf lacks liquidity unless one is near retirement age. Just saying.

U must know that. Stocks is volatile. Not 100% risk free. I do have reits and others. It'd my extra fund. Ssb not for everyone. It'd not really locked. Redeemable anytime.

Diversified bro. Am not dumping all into stocks

FD at the moment lousy. I rather place with ssb for now. Can always redeem all anytime. Risk free. Back by govt. And that's the fund I don't need. So I'm ok with 10 yrs.

It's a bond with a not so conventional coupon rate. You cannot compare it with REITs or equities.

CPF is locked until 55 and if you meet the sum.

Fixed deposits at foreign banks are for foreign currencies which incur exchange risks.

Apples to apples comparison needed.
