the basics of having a trading position is MUST HAVE TP and SL in mind before you even go in

if you dunno when to TP and when to SL, you are a fish and will only be eaten by other experienced traders

what does this mean?

The proposed divestment is expected to be completed in 3Q FY16/17, with Ascendas Funds Management entitled to a divestment fee of S$1.1 million, or 0.5 per cent of the attributable value of the property.

The attributable property value of S$221.6 million is approximately 1.8x of the original property value of about S$122.3 million paid in 2013, and 8.6 per cent higher than the property book value of S$204.0 million as at 31 March 2016.

If the proceeds from the Divestment are used in entirety to repay Ascendas Reit’s debts as at 30 September 2016, Ascendas Reit’s aggregate leverage will be reduced by approximately 1.4 per cent.

Hard truth bro

Example of headless chicken
$5.50 ahh i think i wait for $6
$6.00 ahh think will wait for $7
$7.00 wow can so high ah i will wait for $8
Stock falls back to $5.50 ahhh why i never sell at $7, regrets

Failure of having a TP means u will never take profits
No one can 100% get the highest

meaning they sold at S$221.6 million?

the 1.4 per cent means what? The leverage will minus off 1.4%?
So new leverage is = old leverage debt - 1.4cent for every 1 cent?

means example gearing 36.4% become 35% (I think, not super sure)

0-30% cash I guess still fine ba... but if sit too long on the 30% cash may miss out on a lot of interest/dividends that could be collected

generally if I feel that market dropped a lot and valuations are too cheap like when we were 2500 to 2800, I had like 0-10% cash only... mostly vested

now at close to 3000 level, I prefer to be on 10% cash as a balanced approach

if STI heads to 2700 level, I go 0% cash and vest in the 10%

if STI heads to 3300 level, I hide into 20% cash as I take some profits off the table

my objective is to seek a balance while keeping my majority of funds vested for passive income

How much cash will really depend on your life goals and your immediate needs. Do not invest if you need cash for your coming big ticket items like schools fees, wedding, family building etc

Have seen people liquidating during the down turn and suffer losses, big ones. The idea of investing is to make money not lose them.

I personally have cash to tide me over 3 years of expenses. Call me kiasu kiasi but that is me and I have a family to feed :)

Yeah banks already ran up
Maybe can consider dca sti etf
Then balance reits+telco combo for dividends

Yeah, primary (and ultimately) my main objective is to gain dividends. So it's about buy and hold for long term.

Now all REIT drops pretty siao, so it's a good time ahead for all to buy and hold!
