it's both an exclusive and limited edition item. Cheapest you can get them now are off eBay at $400+

Hi justmeasures, thanks for the reply. Ya, I have been searching in plamoya, amazon JP & ebay. The lowest I can find is 320 usd to 399 sgd excluding shipping :s22: Btw dunnoe whether can get it from Yahoo Japan Auction at a lower price but may need to find a buying proxy to do it.

Anyone can share their experience when purchasing online from plamoya, ebay etc. for goods exceeding 400 SGD & paying the 7 % GST. So how do we pay the tax ?

1) the 400 SGD including shipping fees, is before conversion of exchange rate or after ?

2) for example plamoya have invoice attached onto the parcel box & shipping option is EMS. Will Singpost deliver the parcel to the addressee and collect the GST on the spot upon delivery or will the parcel be stuck in ICA ?

3) If stuck with ICA, how long does it take for them to inform us thru mail or phone and how long will we receive the parcel ? Thanks! :)

Yes you will need a proxy to bid via YAJ. or get a third party bidder. These people usually charge commission based on a % of the bidding price or a flat rate based on the price range.

I highly doubt you will get it very much cheaper though...

IIRC
1) the $400sgd does not include shipping fees and is based on the amount declared by the sender (on the slip of paper on the box). It will be based on THEIR exchange rate. (I had an item that was just below the $400 mark...stuck at customs for a week, then the exchange rate shot up, went above $400 and I eventually had to pay tax)

2) It will not get stuck at customs, but you will be required to make payment when they send you the item.

3) Usually does not get stuck at customs (never encountered that before), but the courier will ask you to pay $$. Or if no one was at home or at the delivery address to collect it, they will drop a slip at the door and you will have to make payment at the PO.

sgd 400 limit includes shipping.

GST is calculated based on the CIF value (cost, insurance and freight) of the goods plus all duties payable. If the invoice value of goods does not include insurance and freight charges, the postage charge paid for the goods is to be taken as freight and insurance charges, and is to be added to the invoice value of such invoice for calculation of GST payable.

Sigh. I went Japan few months ago and bought back quite a few to sell and I thought would be able to sell off quite fast. End up till now only sold 1. Now just have to wait till got demand for those sets i have, or I have time to do up, whichever is sooner. Lol
