I even tried to rollback to Oreo but facing the same issue, Oreo firmware version is lower than my current, also wont download..
Hope the experts here can give sime advice as how can i resolve this issue.

If you're like me without twrp, and do not want to go the twrp route, you can follow the following steps to update to stable Pie.

- Backup using Oneplus Switch and transfer the backup (located in \opbackup) to PC
- Download the downgrade package from here
- Settings > System > System Updates > Local upgrade to flash the downgrade package. Data will be wiped..
- After finished the initial setup, install oxygen updater and use it to download and update to stable Pie, or download the stable Pie from here.
- [optional] perform a factory reset after successfully update to stable Pie.
- After the initial setup, transfer the backup from the very first step to the phone (under \Backup, yes it is different from previous) and use Oneplus Switch to restore.

NOTE:
1. You may want to exclude WhatsApp (including the images and videos folder) from the Oneplus Switch backup, the restoring is slow for the media folder. You can download the whatsapp from play store and restore the backup from Google drive later, it is so much faster. Of course you've to be sure you've turned on Google drive backup for Whatsapp.
2. You do not need Oneplus Switch backup if you've turned on Google backup for your account.

You'll need to choose to restore from cloud backup during the initial setup. You can still use Oneplus switch to backup just in case the Google backup failed to restore for some reason.

Really appreciate your setp by step instructions. Many thanks.
The problem i faced, i downloaded the stable Oreo and tried to install via settings-system update- local update. But it prompted me, that the version is lower than my current version, thus I can't update.
For the flash method, is it pressed on the power on/off button and volume donw button together, choose English, then what i choose next? I'm lost at this part.

You've to use the downgrade package instead of the regular Oreo update package.

This is to flash in recovery? I'm not sure about this flash method for Oneplus 6.

just updated yesterday.

i find there is a problem with Android Pie. the screen brightness need to increase to at least 60% in order for me to see properly in the daytime.

same problem i face in P2XL.

Agreed. Generally is not as bright as before.

Could it be the new adaptive brightness? You can manually adjust and Google learns how bright it needs to be at what situation

Adaptive brightness was there in Oreo, and still it generally was dimmer then required for me. I got a brightness level widget to change it manually.

I'll let Pie take over for a while and hope it learns what I need.

Yes, adaptive brightness is there since long long time ago

But Android Pie added AI to adaptive brightness, which is unlike the algorithm based in previous version

For u rooted device, do we select incremental or full update?

non-rooted can use incremental
