You update the hydrogen os before flashing the oxygenos rom?

Try update the oxygenos rom via the recovery mode

Yeah that happened when I was in China for a week. Just use use.

Can I do that? Via recovery no need bootloader unlocked?

Hey guys,

Need some advise. So I brought back my export set back from China and tried to flash OxygenOS downloaded directly from OP's website via Local Update but this failed. The error was because the HydrogenOS was of a higher version and they say downgrading is not allowed.

So I googled etc, then download this ADB and Fastboot thingy and finally I have OxygenOS 5.1.8 on my phone but in order to do this I had to the unlock the Bootloader. Not a big issue, but say now Netflix can't be installed via Playstore. I downloaded the Netflix APK and it works fine, but its not the latest version and that bugs me.

What are my options? I can't seem to just lock back the Bootloader or do I have to wait for a newer version of OxygenOS to get this updated via Local Updates?

If you are talking about locking back the bootloader, you can easily do that. Just go google around and you can find many ways.

As Long as your boot loader is unlock your device will remain insecure to the systems eyes as an unlocked boot loader will fail SafetyNet. Either you lock it or get magisk to hide.
Noted! Will try to get it locked, just that I already spent some time to setup the device. Abit 'ley-chey' to do it over again. But I found a solution to my earlier issue with Netflix, I got a more updated version of the APK so that solves my issue in the interim.

Just curious, those who own 256gb sets, do you use that much space? And what do you store? I'm currently using 64gb OP3 and looking to upgrade to OP6, undecided on 128gb or 256gb. Leaning more to 128gb.

I believe it depend on your usage? Cos different person usage may differ. Check how much storage is left on your op3. If near to max then 128gb will be the correct choice for upgrade.

Yup. I'm a heavy multimedia consumer. Take a lot of family and friends photos videos.

I'm also a hoarder, never delete stuff like what's app media and messages for years etc. Everything important. Must keep.

Only 8 gb left on my P20 Pro so I got the OnePlus 6 256gb. No regrets. But really subjective lah.
