Yup. It has tap to show ambient display option

Haha. I was quite lukewarm towards the OP6 actually, cause at that time it was pretty run of the mill, and local price is like 868 at launch for base model.

But I feel like it's more worth it this time round? The optical fingerprint sensor, the new display with super tiny notch, much bigger battery, and the base model now double the storage to 128gb. RRP only went up by $30 to 898, but thanks to coupon and what not i got it down to 773. So pretty much US pricing. Those buying export set with coupon even better, below the US pricing.

Also to add a bit the optical fingerprint sensor is definitely not as fast as the old capcitive sensor, and it requires a more deliberate action. Like you need to make sure place your finger carefully. If you see jerryrigeverything teardown you see the opening for the optical sensor is actually quite small. Then mkbhd complaint about the sensor being a bit too bright in the dark is valid too. Haha. I don't like bright lights. But overall, I still prefer the fingerprint sensor at the front rather than the back.

Your advice just make my purchase feels more "worth it" especially the screen on time hahaha. I have a iphone xs max as work phone which has no notification led though.

Does it have the tap to show ambient display which it will show the notifications?

I see many of you getting the phone from 131express from Qoo10, anyone have experience with them? Does their warranty covers dead pixels? They selling export set right so if any problem do we need to pay the shipment back?

I texted them on Facebook but they haven't reply yet.

if u scared. buy locally.

from what i remember, u need to pay for the shipping there and they ship back foc within the warranty period.

Oneplus is well known for their built quality.. if u can pass 1 mth.. i don't think will have further problem.

Coming from a OP3 and OP6 user.

Ya i am leaning to op6 at first as i got notification led and physical fingerprint reader at the back. When i am considering, export set for 128gb 8gb silk white is 629, while a op6t 128gb 8gb export set cost 750.

The optical fingerprint sensor i also have concern. I know it is nt as fast. But so far u have any issue with it? Is it really bright till it cause issue in the dark?

Your review coming out bro? I am waiting for it hahaha

Is there any issues with using the fingerprint sensor with banking apps or payment?

131 is generally ok for export sets. They are one of the few that sell sealed sets. Others like newstar will sell opened sets as they say need to flash oxygen OS.

If u opt for the 3 months warranty, most likely they will settle for u for free. After which can try to ask them for help to ship back for repair.

Dead pixels wise should cover, but not sure whats their policies for rma

Yeah. Cost wise seems more worth it already. The optical sensor to me is like 1 step forward but halfstep back. Haha. Cause really is not as fast. Other than need to be more precise with the location, it's also more sensitive? So like once in a when will need like a few tries to get it.

This is where it gets a bit annoying at night actually. Like when you half squint and check the phone, so your aim a bit off, then the light also quite bright. Haha.

To me I still like it at the front cause easier to use my thumb compared to trying to shift my hand position and use index finger on the back. I really noticed this when picking up my pixel 2 to do things. Like when need to use fingerprint for banking apps, I need to readjust my grip a bit. But with the sensor on the 6T the position is just nice, so that I don't need to adjust my grip at all. (No issue for POSB ibanking app fingerprint sensor on the 6T, don't use other Banks though. Haha.)

I still wish it was more reliable and faster, maybe when ultrasonic fingerprint sensor become cheaper and easier to implement, but it's still okay for me as it is on the 6T.

BUT, I think end whether you can live with it will be down to whether you are willing to use face unlock. If you are, it works well enough in most situations that I don't have to use the fingerprint sensor as often. Like if you have lighter colour wallpaper, just the light from the screen is sometimes enough for the camera to recognise your face already. The only times I use the fingerprint sensor is for banking apps, or unlock the phone on my desk without picking it up. So it's not as annoying for me still. But I can imagine if you have to use it as the only form of unlocking method, it will be a bit more annoying.

I just got the phone ytd leh, so review won't be so fast la. But will try to update my thoughts here and share more things as I use it. Haha. Cause coupon only till this Sunday? By the time my review is done already too late. :s13:

At the pace that OnePlus is going, every year can update this photo. haha. All of them taken when I was trying out/reviewing their phones.

I still remember I didn't really like the OP1 back then. I didn't like their marketing, the way they do business, and I had issues with the accelerometer being a little off-centered, so like when playing racing games, even when it is perfectly level, it will keep steering left one. hahaha. The hardware also felt quite cheap and plasticky. Because of the issues I faced, and the bad press around the OP2, I skipped that generation entirely.

But the OnePlus X won me back. It was a happy coincidence really. I only got it because I traded another phone that I just finished reviewing with my friend. (https://axhng.blogspot.com/2015/11/quick-look-at-oneplus-x.html) 5 more days and it would be exactly 3 years ago since I posted this. hahaha.

Since then, the company still has its ups and down when it comes to their products, but they've really grown on me over the year.

EDIT: Bonus content. Original resolution camera samples from all the OnePlus phones I've had. Can really see the improvement over the years. hahaha. No OP6T yet though. still haven't done it yet. haha.

ya lor, that's why i really didn't like their phones back then. but they really improve a lot over the years. Like you see with the OP6T, local distributor starting pre-order almost immediately after the phone was announced. People started getting their phones here in like a week.

On the other hand, my most recent experience with pre-ordering the Google Pixel 3. 3 weeks wait. Best part is, my friend ordered the Pixel 3 XL 128GB white with Singtel, till today haven't gotten the phone yet. He pre-ordered on 10/10. Today 10/11 liao. Meanwhile OP6T already readily available in Singapore. :s22:
