You're required to have an Apple ID to enrol in the Appleseed program.
Remember to backup your existing data!

OS X Beta Program

After redeeming the 'promotion' key you'll be prompted to download Yosemite Beta 1 from the App Store.

It's a beta for people to try and report bugs.
If you're doing important works such as projects etc do not use it as there might be instances such as data loss, restarts etc

Apps might also be incompatible with the new OS.

You can install second partition and migrate some of your work there to try. Thats what I am doing.

Yosemite isn't as stable as Mavericks was in beta. Mavericks was already good in beta 1, Yosemite on the other hand still has problems in b4, so I won't migrate back my data to main partition just yet.

Current Build: 14A299l
Released On: July 24, 2014

Known Issues
Safari
Safari may hang when playing certain Netflix content.
iPhoto and Aperture
iPhoto 9.5.1 and Aperture 3.5.1 are required on OS X Yosemite. Update to these versions from the Mac App Store.
When entering edit mode in iPhoto, a black screen may be displayed instead of the selected photo.
Photo Stream and iCloud Photo Sharing may not function properly when both iPhoto and Aperture are installed.
iCloud
The shared purchase history page on the Mac App Store is disabled for Family Sharing accounts.
iCloud Drive may appear empty in the Finder after first time setup. Restart to resolve this problem.
AirDrop
AirDrop may not show nearby Macs.
Sending files to another Mac using AirDrop may not work.

Keep trying.
The servers were overloaded.
I couldn't get it until a couple more tries.

For those who with download error, change your computer to google dns and your download should be ok.
Suggested by the forum. Change and took me 20min to download complete. Doing the installation now.

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 is it?

i'll just wait for stable release

The public beta(DP4) is quite stable enough to be used as main OS

Just that there's an issue with downloading the beta :s22:

Changed my DNS to Google's! *fingerscrossed*
