Does PS5 have native Bluetooth now? Or don’t tell me only their official headset is the only one supported?

Can’t imagine plugging in a dongle on the controller which has yielded really poor experience.

Even the PS5 3D Pulse Headset uses a dongle, similar to the PS4’s Gold and Platinum headset.. The dongle goes to the PS5 and not the controller..

Was a bit frustrated with PS5 unable to connect to external speaker and dac. The dac/amp from dual sense controller is so weak that i can't get proper volume for headphone and earpiece. No choice, just bite the bullets.

mmm that weird, I saw a reviewer mention that it support some of the USB DAC & AMP combo. I getting mine this evening I will try out.

Very important side note to TV owners with HDMI 2.1.
Specifically LG TV owners.

If your 'Colour format' shows up as RGB like in your settings, here, it means that the PS5 is not doing any chroma subsampling. Meaning, it is outputting at the full 4:4:4 chroma.

The thing is, the LG TV will change all the inputs to output your content as 4:2:2 chroma subsampling. Even using Game Mode won't help. The only way to get full 4:4:4 chroma is to change your PS5's input to 'PC' in the Input Settings on your LG TV. And then use Game Mode in that 'PC input' of cos; because there's no ALLM on the PS5.
This is very important if you want to fully utilize the full 4:4:4 chroma. Both RGB and YUV444 outputs the full 4:4:4 chroma. This means that every single pixel will get its own colour information.

While in 4:2:2 chroma subsampling, in every 8 pixel, only 4 pixels have accurate colours while the other 4 is sharing the same colour as the 4 accurate ones but with varying levels of brightness. So the result is, less accurate colours for your games that can output the full 4:4:4 chroma.

This has been tested by other LG TV owners in the international AV forums including me where with the RTX 3000 series, even if your PC settings shows you are outputting the full 4:4:4 chroma, the TV is still chroma subsampling the output image. With the solution being to change your input to PC Input.

I’ using LG C8 and previously ps4pro use HDMI ARC to return audio signal to my pioneer AVR.. But now with PS5 i unable to turn on the sound on my AVR speaker. AVR is showing audio received and tv showing volume controlling by avr but no sound. In ps5 setting i choose either TV, amplifier or soundbar but none of this mode can output sound to avr speaker.

Played Spider Man Remastered all night on the PS5. Have to say the controller is the real deal. Also had the “lan cable disconnected” bug which kept appearing once in awhile. Changing lan cable seems to have fixed it (atleast none in the past 5 hours). Goodluck to those still waiting on their PS5!

ya agree, the controller is quite impressive especially when u try with Astro which are meant to intro the controller functionality

hope more games will take advantage of the feature

Remember to set the Audio Format (Priority) in the Sound --> Audio Output --> General settings and set it to Linear PCM. You'll be surprised but this is actually the best output format to get out of your PS5.
Both Dolby and DTS use a lossy format. So you will lose a bit of the sound information. PCM format is lossless. Therefore, no compression and is the best way to enjoy the sound from your games.
Also, by choosing Linear PCM, your AVR won't have to do any decoding vs using Dolby and DTS. Therefore, this format will give you the lowest amount of audio latency too. You can try this out by changing to PCM, try to move up and down in the PS5 menus and hear how fast the sound effect comes in response to your navigation presses. And now change to Dolby and try again. See how much slower the sound comes.

And as for answering your question, if your TV and AVR only supports ARC and not eARC, then unfortunately, you must use Dolby or DTS. I recommend DTS. It has the fastest decoding vs Dolby.
If there is still no sound, it is probably because you have used this HDMI port on your TV for some other device correct? Shut off the power from the wall for your PS5, TV and AVR. Unplug the HDMI. Let it rest for about 10 to 15 mins and try again. This method is to ensure that the EDID information is refreshed as all the 3 devices will have to re-share their EDID information with one another.
