Anyone knows how to tell if ur hdmi cable is 2.1? Lol really very lazy to redo my set up when ps5 comes. Since all my cables are concealed.
Depending on the length of your current 18Gbps HDMI 2.0 cable, you should be able to reuse your current ones.
I wanted a short cable run since the PS5 is directly beside the TV. So I am using the normal HDMI 2.0b 18Gbps Amazon Monoprice cable. Since it's only 1m, it works fine as seen with my FRL rate of 4 in my TV's HDMI Diagnostic menu. Meaning, FRL 4 means 8Gbps per lane. Since there's 4 lanes, that means, I am getting the current limit of 32Gbps on this PS5 without any issues.
Similarly, I use an Elecom 18Gbps 5 metre cable for my RTX 3090 for a full FRL 6 meaning 12Gbps per lane for a total of 48Gbps also without any issues.
Like yours, my cables are all running along my cable management compartment and also behind the wall. Lazy to deal with the many cables too.
Or... If you are really kiasu and want a certified 48Gbps HMDI 2.1 cable, you can buy the Zeskit Ultra High Speed HDMI cables on Amazon. Those have been fully certified by the HDMI Forum. So you shouldn't have any or much worries about any issues there.
Also, what you can do is test your current cables by checking whether the Video Output Information on the PS5 shows that your TV can support 4K 120Hz and you are getting RGB (HDR) instead of YUV422 in your current 4K 60Hz output in that same information menu. Then you know that your current cables are working. Provided, you have a HDMI 2.1 TV of cos.
