It's often the case, don't lose heart though, reits are not really for growth.

yes. all my trades since day 1 has been tracked (only 1 page nia... I seldom sell... only buy and hold). I started in 2007 May, but I never buy/sell anything from 2010 Oct to 2014 May! Then this year feb start buying again... if not for my OCBC & DBS purchase this yr, my P&L + Div + Cl can hit as much as 60%!

To be more accurate, subtract $15k for OCBC & DBS which I just bought this year, and add in $7k (CapitalMall Asia)which I actually bought and hold for quite some time but eventually sold thus not reflected in portfolio, that brings my cost to $26.5k & dividends collected to be $7.7k.

7.7/26.5 = 29.05% (simple calculation/estimation since I did not spent 26.5k all at once at the start, but was spread over the years)

Spread over 9yrs my dividend yield is only 3.23%, really nothing to boast about, and I'm not really satisfied with this yield. Therefore now I am waiting for opportunity to enter to get good & stable companies which gives moderate yields (eg. banks, telco), and some REITS which gives even higher yields.

Anyone knows how does SGXCafe derive the avg cost & annual dividend yield?



EDIT: I think I know, but need some verification here... For the annual results, avg cost is the time-weighted average of your cost over the entire year while dividend yield for that year is the div collected for that year over the avg cost of that year.

So if I buy 1k worth of stock in Jan 2000 and 2k in Oct 2000, for year 2000 my avg cost should be 1(12/12)+3(3/12)?
