i am only a small IT support staff earning less than a first-class degree graduate's entry pay. :(

All that despite working over a decade. :(

Why do you think I took up investing? I have no choice.

let me put it this way...
if i don't invest, i pretty dead when I reach retirement.
some of you probably can control your spending and retire very comfortably.

You guys envy folks with big portfolios and admire their dividends but, I have more admiration for the older generation uncles and aunties around us who have raised kids, paid off over-priced HDB flats, and still working in their 60s and sweat-drenched hunched-backs.

Kekekek why would anyone admire someone's dividend? That's a funny way to put it. Ppl just envious some has come further in their investment journey than others who's probably just started out.

Also I admire those who slog their whole life for family (like my dad) but that don't mean I want to be them, hence need to grow nest egg.

Thanks for sharing.
You just started investing or it has been a while?

You're welcome. Been investing since 2000. Made quite a sum from the SARS and GFC days. Those positions, except the retail bonds, have been liquidated way back in 2012/13. They are too tedious to update in my profolio. I am starting anew this year after seeing STI went down from 3500 to 2500, and found sgxcafe useful to track my performance. Much to learn from the gurus here.

Coool, based on your experience you think market on uptrend now that's why you start to re-enter?
Also how many stocks do you think it's a comfortable level? I saw you have 29 stocks on hand right now.

tii I notice your top 2 positions are bank pref shares
what's your intended % of portfolio in fixed income securities?

how old are u? because those with higher age tend to get more pref shares/bonds
