My preference would have been to put 'na' since I just want to illustrate a portfolio with STI ETF and some satellite holdings. But SGX Cafe wants me to put in a buying price. So instead of estimating, I changed it to '0' since 'Not Applicable' is not allowed. Since my estimate of about $5 for OCBC has caused a disturbance in the force. If '$0' causes problems, I will estimate $100 buying price and be the biggest loser in sgxcafe? Thats ok with me. I'm here to give advice, not to win investing competition.
I prefer not to have too much of an awareness of buying price - dwelling too much on purchase prices from long ago may result in "sunk cost fallacy" when making buy/sell decision. When investing, psychology is important and you need to have the right numbers in your head. One should sell when the stock is overvalued, the buying price is not so important.
But I appreciate the discussion and notice increased pageviews to the blog due to Felix's post. (blog is advertising free - I started it as an experiment only).
I also noticed that Dividendknight posted a comment in sgxcafe - he is 100% spot on. The portfolio illustrates core-satellite strategy.
Thanks
What u mean? I dunno lol

The PL% for his Yuzoo is +Infinity%
Glitch in the system?
because he put purchase price as 0, so any stock price becomes infinite profit percentage (a questionable interpretation of dividing by 0)The PL% for his Yuzoo is +Infinity%

To illustrate your core-satellite strategy, why not put the current price as a starting point and evaluate from there onward on how your portfolio is doing comparing to sti index? just a suggestion.

Core-satellite investing is a method of portfolio construction designed to minimize costs, tax liability and volatility while providing an opportunity to outperform the broad stock market as a whole. The core of the portfolio consists of passive investments that track major market indices, such as the Standard and Poor's 500 Index (S&P 500). Additional positions, known as satellites, are added to the portfolio in the form of actively managed investments. Read on to find out how this works.

He just trying to show off, he always brag that he bought at gfc lows uob ocbc dbs and he recently also bought at 2500 lows, he just wants to boost his own ego

I contra off and left a few lots when I sold. Therefore their cost is zero.
our felix likes to pick on others and intimidate them. before that was keverus, yyhwin and now limster. all are just posting on the internet with the spirit of sharing. not sure why people are taking them so seriously. there is nothing to gain out of it. i believe all of these guys are adults and are strong enough to take criticisms.
however, if felix is intimidated instead, he will cry father and mother.
PS: felix put me in on his ignore list so he can't read this message.![]()
stockbot, you need to stop going getting personal.
If you look back at your own post, you will see plenty examples of you shooting people down. Correcting things is fine, putting people down isn't.
It's good to correct/rectify/question stuff which we find odd but there is no need to go personal. It also allows room for people to reply and explains.
Only when people are deliberately scamming or committing fraud, then it's good to warn/alert people to them.
For the most part, believing things posted by random strangers online without due diligence is one's own fault.
Peace out.
