anyone got a problem with the XIRR and time-weighted returns? When I key in some of my past transactions, I get things like -100% on some years and 1000% on others. Wonder what's the underlying algo.

Jin satki!! tution so good business??
Some of my 2013 contract notes are incomplete. Then some of them I bought in 2013 and sold in 2014, like that might as well just take out that 2 years to better reflect my positions in these 2 years.
Should have the habit of putting everything in excel for all my years, but too bad I only have that habit ever since 2012.

yyhwin, does this look familiar to you?

This person also started recording in excel since 2012, but incomplete data in 2013 .![]()
Where you get this curve?
some financial blogger
I never really keep track.
Now based on whatever contract I have on hand, I am + 44.41 % since 2012/2013, including paper loss on noble, excluding my recent purchase which I do not wish to disclose.

This guy +50% at end 2015. Roughly there la.
Is that you?![]()
Check out Internal Rate of Return.
XIRR uses dates to calculate IRR. if your portfolio is small and you FIFO, your XIRR will be very big negative or positive.
i.e. A portfolio with a single contra position with 10% gain over 3 days is roughly 10866909% XIRR.
Sorry ah... reading thread from the very first post
