Thanks! This does seem similar to what I was doing - adding those 1 to 2 days trades. Didn't seem to have a problem when I was doing it in Excel though..

when u have multiple trades over multiple days, XIRR will average out to a more realistic number.

on excel, you try
16 nov, -$10,000
19 nov, +$11,000

XIRR for only these 2 rows should yield what I have mentioned.

I guess my chosen investment method suits me.....:D and I can see myself continuing down this dividend investing path

Maybe you can revisit/retrace ur past trades and buy/sell decisions to see where ur mistakes are......or think about ur original motivation/objective when u first started investing

U probably stopped believing that ur strategy will help u achieve ur objective.....but people do change over time....just look at DW's dramatic change :s22:

Won't say there are mistakes or good/bad, portfolio shrunk but bullets still there :D.
Just there's always a certain size limit of my portfolio I hesitate to grow until. Will start feeling uncomfortable and reduce.

I see.....

I had similar concerns when my portfolio hit the $300k mark...resulting in some sleepless nights during market dips

But i realised the way to reduce these worries is to do solid research and keep a warchest ready...:) Still, the pace of growth from $300k onwards has been slower than from $0-$200k...i guess the lingering fear is still there

If you stay in the market long enough and have sufficient back up, shouldn't be too concerned about short term movement.
No matter what, the dividend is real and it is recurring yearly unless the company is facing some difficulties.

Fear is the only thing that's stopping individual to move forward. Warren buffett being the greatest investor of our time said that,"Risk comes from not knowing what you're doing."

If we fear of the company that we are buying, it shows that we do not understand the company enough. When investing, Warren buffett makes no qualms about visiting the organization and talk to their staff to know more about the company that he is investing. He wants to know the company's process, competitiveness and staff morale.

When we know the company inside out, we can invest without fear.😝
