I don't see the point within a long-term investment portfolio.

But also expected to be lower yielding, on average.
Higher YTM compared to MBH But i think credit rating slightly lower

https://www.lionglobalinvestors.com...-duration-bond-fund-active-etf-sgd-class.html
YTM:3.18%
Weighted ave duration: 2.25y
Expense ratio: 0.25% (for now)

MBH etf
https://sg.amova-am.com/docs/defaul...RATE-BOND-ETF-FACTSHEET.pdf?sfvrsn=fec711e7_3
YTM: 2.66% Weight ave duration: 6y
Expense ratio: 0.15%

Hi folks, is LionGlobal Short Duration Bond Fund (Active ETF SGD Class) a decent bond fund?

I'm looking for decent returns (>3% annualized),
Can't promise that. Short-dated bond fund returns are subject to the whims of the central bank (in this case, the Fed)—if they cut rates, your yield will go down.

That said, this looks... fine? Reasonable fees, decent YTM (about 110 over SGS, which is surprisingly good for a short-date portfolio), reasonable-quality portfolio (average rating single-A-minus, one notch lower than MBH)... no humongous red flags here.

I'd still take MBH over this fund, at least until it's better established, but it's nice to finally have a listed SGD-short-end ETF for folks who can't afford to take duration risk.

Can i also ask when it comes to selling bond funds, we can only sell on secondary market (SGX) right? We are unable to redeem directly, and have to take the spreads and brokerage fees right?
Basically yes.

There's a way to create and redeem directly from the fund manager, going through your broker to facilitate it; but every time folks on here have tried to do this in the past, it's been an enormous pain in the behind, the folks at the broker haven't known that this existed, and typically the fees for the "cash creation"/"redemption" are higher than what you'd pay just buying it or selling it on-exchange.

Bond experts here,

This junk bond QL3 listed on SGX worth the risk?
Are we compensated enough?
YTM 7%+
Expense ratio: 0.5%
No. Absolutely not. Do not buy junk bonds right now. Spreads are historically tight, you aren't getting adequately compensated for the additional credit risk.

It does change my view, yeah! The product page on iShares' website didn't mention it being hedged, I got that one wrong.

So it's not a SGD-hedged equivalent of CRPA, it's more a SGD-hedged equivalent of AGG - it's got exposure to every type of bond, including US treasuries, US mortgages, G7 govvies, Chinese govvies... I'm a little finicky about my bond exposure and I'd prefer to target it to specific classes of bond (like, I'm not thrilled about mortgages, I think Chinese govvies have already run a long way, etc etc), but this looks like a solid option if you really don't want to think about your bond exposure.
What about this then ?

Hi ST

Amundi A12S (C) SGD on Poem

does it make sense for people on LSE DCA buying ISAC/ VWRA to switch to buying this instead on poems even though this is a UT, for the long term (20 years)

If you are using SRS/CPF OA for investment, it make sense to invest in low cost Amundi funds on Poems.

Depends entirely on the fees you get charged, I'd say. If you're paying any front-end load or platform charges, the Amundi fund would work out worse.

One other thing to note is that the MSCI World (which this fund tracks) is not the same as the MSCI ACWI (which ISAC tracks) or the FTSE All-World (which VWRA tracks). ISAC and VWRA have exposure to emerging markets; the Amundi fund doesn't.

There’s also a bit of extra dividend tax that the Amundi fund pays on its U.S. stock stock dividends, so don’t forget to take that cost difference into account too.

Even so, it might be one of the better available global stock index fund choices specifically for investing CPF OA or SRS dollars.
