I read in this thread that Singtel might throttle Gomo's bandwidth under circumstances such as crowded areas, congestion, etc.

Is this real? I did a brief search on the web and all I get are hits on HWZ. The Singtel Mobile's Gomo T&C says misbehaviour by users will cause throttling, which is fair. The same should apply to Singtel's users.

I think Singtel throttling of Gomo's bandwidth vis-a-vis Singtel when under stress can be considered folklore. Are there any references in this area?

I think SingTel will give more priority to own subscriber followed by virtual telco subscriber, then roaming partners subscriber. I think logically if area crowded with high data usage, those overseas roaming users will throttle first, then followed by virtual telco user, then own subscribers.

Anyone experiencing difficulty in connecting to 5G? I have a 5G plan but unable to connect to 5G despite in 5G covered areas.

Also, what is the apn for Gomo? I was previously using e-ideas but asked by Gomo to change to hicard as I was unable to connect to the internet.

e-ideas is correct. If 5G enabled is reflected as “Active” your Gomo app, then the problem is with your phone.

Honestly, roaming customers might have higher priority than even SingTel Postpaid (Consumer) if you think about it in a logical way.

Roaming revenue is the most lucrative business, so making it the fastest means more of the sweet sweet data flows through and therefore maximise profit for both origin and roaming carrier.

But of course, as the data traffic has to go back to the origin carrier before going to the interwebs, it might not be as fast as a result.

I had try using M1 EM plan. Free data passport on some countries. I try to roam in malaysia a few times but totally not usable. Use a while, then cannot use. Have to put airplane mode and back then can use. A while later, cannot use. Try a few different places also same. I use paid starhub roaming data on same network, can use without any issue.

Maybe what u say is true, as long as we paid more for it, we have higher priority.

Just a question, does your EM+ plan come with a 5G SIM? (Even if it's an LTE subscription)

Asking because ever since I changed my CL SIM from USIM to 5G SIM, roaming doesn't seem to work properly. Recently went to Malaysia, connected to MY CELCOM for a few seconds, get kicked out of the network. Tried a few times, but all failed, and eventually can't even connect at all.

Meanwhile, the SIMBA SIM Card with 10GB Malaysia Roaming works seamlessly, even using about 5GB of the data in a 2D1N trip lol.

Doesn't add up because both are using the same preferred roaming parter, Celcom Axiata.

That time when i try dun have any 5G. It was quite a few years back. Ever since, i always believe to pay for roaming as free roaming data doesnt work well. I have tried M1 and starhub to use same roaming network at that time and M1 doesnt work as expected.

well wow this is something new. It shouldn’t be the case as the number port over even dialing out and dialing into the ported line number seems fine so far.

Just got Gomo for my dad and ported his number over from MR earlier this morning (surprised they ported during public holiday).

Tried to activate iMessage on the iPhone but cannot activate. The circle just keep spinning. Send/receive text message no problem.

Any idea why?

Thanks. I managed to get hold of one CSO on Mon and it was resolved. Basically the CSO got me to deactivate VoLTE on my end. i am not too sure if she did anything else on her end too. However i can receive OTP SMS from FIs no issue now!

So you're no longer using VoLTE? Or they had you toggle off and back on and everything fine?
