My indicators are red too. But I've never went swimming with it and I always ensure the flaps are tightly closed before I wash it. I have no idea why the indicators turned red. Perhaps when I was walking in the light rain while listening to music?

This whole fiasco is because of a design oversight by Sony. My educated guess is that all of us who have gotten water into our phones despite closed flaps is simply that the flaps have lost their tightness, especially for frequently used ones like the earphone jack flap and the charging flap. As wear and tear happens, the flaps lose their effectiveness and water seeps into the phone despite the flaps being closed.

recently updated to the latest software. phone just charges so slowly. left it at wall charger to charge over night, this morning still stuck at 32%. check batt stats, turns out my screen was on. but that was the daydream mode. should i switch it off?

think i must go to sony and raise voice before they take my complaint seriously.

where is this sensor that changes color ?

This is how it looks like under the charging flap:

A similar one is found under the earphone flap.

Wa, they give me the best response man. They say the rubber tear already. That's why water get in. Than they say the rubber is not covered under warranty. If change it will cost 50 dollar. wtf man... the cover cost 50 dollar? Like seriously? omg la. really disappointing.

As long as you have at least one flap which you open and close quite often (2 main culprits being usb charging port and earphone jack), you will be diminishing the XZ's water resistance over time.

You can circumvent usage of the usb charging port using the charging dock, but what about the earphone jack for people who use earphones regularly? That's why Sony changed the earphone jack of the new XZ Ultra to remove the flap but still make it water resistant.

the only stupid part is, the rubber broke and it is not covered by warranty -.-. So is my fault that the rubber broke after many usage la? -_-

3 days ago while in Krabi, I took the XZ for a snorkling/swim. Within 10sec at less than 1m into the water (seawater to be exact) the phone died. I went up the boat, the flaps were still secured. I opened them and greenish water started dripping out. Ouch!

Came back to SG today and went to Sony centre. The lady said they will do a water test. Basically to test if it is still water sealed. If yes, means I didn't secure properly, the warranty voided. If no, means I still got a chance to get it serviced.

I took my Xperia GO for kayaking last year with the phone fully submerged in sea water at times, still rocking well today. I put the same faith in my XZ and failed me.

Good thing is, my SD card and SIM card are well, and my data (especially photos) are still alive. Phew!

Anyway I'll get the 'lab' result next week. Fingers crossed.
