Is there a test to verify that the phone's water resistance is intact? That is, could it be user nv close flap properly or the phone has lost its ingress protection.
And what are methods we can try to determine that on our phones before bringing it down to svc centre?

quick update:

took the phone out and plugged in to my laptop. device got red led for a moment then suddenly no more. laptop detects the device and said drivers successfully installed.
however, i got to keep plugging in and out to get the red led and it will only be on for like 3 sec. what should i do now?

just send to repair centre. I think your phone is dead liao.

SONY claims they have their own method to test for the water resistance (as told by them when I sent my Z for repair last month)... I dunno what exactly. but just be careful lor. always ensure your flaps are closed.

apparently its not. i managed to boot it up and i backed everything up. everything seemed normal except a small wet patch at the screen on the bottom left. gonna bring it to svc centre soon

But there seems to be no way for us to verify if it is indeed flaps not closed as compared to the phone being compromised. We just have to take their word for it i guess.

wah you lucky! maybe a bit of water got behind the screen, but not into motherboard. have you tested if camera, earphone jack and sensors are all working fine?

if it comes down to a serious issue I will ask them to show me in front of my face what the test is about lor

No idea. Just send it in to svc centre. Say they gonna repair. Hopefully no cost.

I never test anything nut I showed them the phone is working and the indicators are red.

Will Sony ever do a 1 for 1?

They have done 1 for 1 in the past if it was manufacturing defect, yup

quite a lot of us had the dots/specks in camera before. if it bothers u then go to service centre. hopefully they got spare parts.

theres a new update for xperia Z, able to upgrade thru wifi, no need to connect to pc.
version is 10.3.1.A.2.67 sigh still not android 4.3

Actually I'm looking forward more to 4.4. They should just work on 4.4 and faster release it and forget about 4.3.

Hi guys, just got a new Z1 today :D

I transferred from a 2 year old, rooted S2. And am now still in the process of configuring the new phone.

Just a question, is it worth it to root for Z1? (Usually is just to get some apps to work).

Don't really want to flash a new ROM cos I hear the Z1 stuff are quite good already. What do you guys suggest?

If you ask me, I would root or flash custom rom when sony is no longer supporting this product, or when the firmware is very sucky and when xda got better ones.

I'm still using stock on my so-02e and just flashed it to 4.2.2 only last month
