I just bought a charging dock.

can anyone teach me how to use it?

I've figured out how to use the event pop up, I think.

but when i turn off the event, i have a problem.

when i pop the phone into the dock,

the home page lights up. or the whole screen has multiple colours.

but the screen doesnt automatically shut down, which it usually does after 1min which i've set the screen to power off.

how to set the screen to auto power off if im charging the phone in the dock?

Thanks

Whole screen with multiple colors, i think you referring to daydream?

On your xperia Z, go to settings, then display, then turn off day dream.

Thanks dude. Problem solved.

Now I know what that Daydream is.

Why Sony thinks anyone wanna have their screen left on in this Daydream mode whilw charging or while on dock is absolutely beyond me.

Personally i don't use it at all, prefer all black screen when charging .

But i could think of people who might want to have their xperia double up as table clock, when they charge it over night, every night .

Or use it as a electronic photo frame.

Not sure how customizable is xperia z, but my daydream setting can even choose flipboard !

Yeah I thought of using it as a table clock too. and its pretty cool.

but when u opt of of that option, disable the smart connect and not have any event pop up when u dock the phone, the screen simply goes to the Home page or the Daydream multi color facade, and the screen doesnt fade out till black.

now what use is that at all?

what is flipboard ah?

flipboard is an app for reading news.

yes I did registered it. I guess I am at the limit of the warranty period. Anyone have the same problem, I remembered somewhere they actually repair it for you if the phone passed water test or something like that?

How did you manage to do that? Kitkat is killing me!

read the post below. be sure to backup ur stuff.

I assume you went to the service centre and they advised that they don't offer the service of downgrading firmware?

Anyways, manual flashing is actually very simple. You need to find the 4.3 firmware FTF file and then use Flashtool to flash. Ensure that you untick the "Wipe data" option during the flashing process.

I searched the XDA threads for local 4.3 firmwares, and can only locate a 4.3 firmware for Singtel here (which would come with all those Singtel pre-installed apps): [STOCK ROM][FTF] Xperia Z (C6603) 10.4.1.B.0.101 Singtel (1270-0743) - xda-developers

If you prefer a more generic firmware without all the pre-installed apps, you can try the 10.4.1.B.0.101 Generic Ukraine firmware. Besides the default language setting at 1st startup, there isn't any difference between this firmware and a generic SG one.

Use here for how to use Flashtool to flash firmware (includes video guide).

Want to voice out what happened to my Xperia Z recently which is turning me off. Prior to this happenings, i did went to Sony@Orchard to fix a non-responding screen and got almost the entire phone replaced with parts. Decent 6 days wait and survived for couple of months until this happen. Went to Bishan due to the convenience of the location as i passed by Bishan every working day.

Around May, my Xperia Z suddenly shows condensation at the rear camera and i quickly went to Sony@Bishan for a check. It was pretty fast and within 4 days i got my phone back with some hardware changed. Pretty impressed with their services and happily started using Z again during my jogs.

2nd jog with Z and worst nightmare happened.
i don't listen to music when jogging so no ports/flips were opened.
Mainly use MapMyRun and stuff my Z into the pouch and run.
Back home, i usually do a little soap and rinse my Z since i brought it.
Did the same thing and leave it leaning against my CPU for the water to slowly dry up.
After a while, start to notice watermark around the bottom half of the screen. What i mean is the LCD screen shows watermark creeping towards the center. It is like the metal casing allow some water to seep in. And after few minutes, it restarted 2 times and shutdown for good.
I have not even open any flaps/ports yet to charge or whatsoever.
How the water gets in beat the crap out of me.

Suck it up,went back to the service center at Bishan since thelast servicing was done by them and i suspect they did not do a good job to check for water test (which i found out later that there is such a test) so they have to answer for it though i wanted very much to go to Orchard.
Checked while sending in, all water indicator turned red as the lady at the counter informed me and i informed her that if she or anyone can turn this phone on, i can show her that watermarks on the screen is nowhere near those ports but clearly shows the water seeps into the phone through the casing. She kept quiet and informed me of the longer service period of up to 2 weeks.

I was annoyed and make a complain that,
firstly, you do not provide even the cheapest smartphone for a loan unlike Orchard.
secondly, it is clearly that due to your tech negligence that the waterproofing is not done properly thus resulting the leak again.
And now you going to make me wait for 2 weeks without a phone....

Suck thumb sent in and indeed, 2 weeks later i collected it back yesterday.
Informed me that no hardware changes, software updated and water test passed. Not impressed but as long as it works.
And maybe i said it too early.
Last night i did a simple wash phone test. Usual soap and rinse since i can see all finger smudges all over my Z. Fan blow it for over an hour before i started to remove the flap for charging port and start charging as i sleep.

This morning as i take the usual train route to work, i noticed condensation on the rear camera. All water indicator are still white though. Shake my head and give up. It is either their tech at Bishan is not doing their job or the phone design is ....

End of my rambling... thank you for reading...

Hi! all. i have a rooted 4.1.2 Xperia Z. Trying to use flashtool to flash a generic 4.3 firmware. But whenever i connect in flash mode. when i click flash, the phone keeps boot up normally & flash tool would say flash cancelled. i tried enabling & disabling USB debug mode, change from MTP to MSC as instructed but i still can't get it to flash the firmware. Any one can help? I don't want to update to kitkat due to the battery drain issue.

I never had much faith in all this waterproof thingy...all it takes is a tiny gap. If I'm the person who had already sent in twice due to water trouble, I definitely won't tempt fate again by washing the phone again.
