Was choosing between ZenFone 5 and Redmi 1S...finally decided on ZenFone and bought one. But wow, I couldn't open the back cover at all. Manual says to pry open from the small groove, but I just couldn't get it open. Anyone got tips on how to do this?

same issue i had initially... but later once figured it out it's pretty easy to open... u need fingernails to open... the bottom left hand corner got a dent in... just insert fingernails and it'll open slightly... then slide ur fingernails around the phone casing until the whole thing comes out...

regards,
wacky

any consensus on which chip is better ?
1.6 GHz dual core Intel vs Snapdragon 1.2 GHz quad core ?
I am not very keen on LTE, so might get the one with better "future-proof" CPU.
where can get the Intel 2580 (2GHz) ZF5, with 2 GB RAM ?
Asus website, only sells the 1.6GHz version, it seems.
Intel is smoother butvweak batt.
The snapdragom is better on batt..butvno5 as smooth.

The variant mentioned is the export version

Thanks, finally got it and have been trying the phone out. Looks good, can't complain given the price point. The only thing I thought it could have been better is the camera shutter speed which has a noticeable lag. I cannot fully comment on battery yet.

I bought the dual sim 3G model and noticed OS is still 4.3. When I do a system update, it says my system is up to date. I thought can upgrade to 4.4 now? Any bros can share how?

Thanks! Got it!

Initial observation on battery on my unit: Went to sleep last night with about 70% battery and woke up this morning with about 63%. Will do some real world testing in the next few days and see how.

BTW, anyone knows if there is a way to uncheck the ASUS keyboard option? I prefer to use the Google keyboard. I know we can set this but the problem is when i sometimes accidentally press the multi language option on the keyboard, it will change to the ASUS keyboard and cannot go back to the Google keyboard anymore.

Took me a while to understand what you meant.

Try this.

Go to Google keyboard settings.
Go to keyboard.
Uncheck "Switch to other keyboard method".

If u are holding the 3G version, should be the 1 ending with CG. Jus download the ww sku and u shld be safe. Best is backup ur data in case. Put in root of the folder(direct paste it in internal drive when u connect ur phone to com) and u shall see a prompt that there is a factory update.

Down and just unzip it once. It shld still be a zip file but that is enough. Do not unzip further. The file name shld be some user.

I updated mine like this too.

Wow, thanks! I overlooked that option.

Quite satisfied with my zenfone so far. It did crash one time, though I was playing around with an app so perhaps that could hv caused the instability.

I'm keen on getting zenfone 5 lte. Read some reviews saying the screen is not very bright, especially in bright daylight outdoors. Hope to hear from users - is it really that bad?
