Hey all, fairly new here, not too sure if this is the right place to ask my question, will appreciate it if you guys could direct me to it if this isn't. Anyway, it's about a Paywave transaction today on my debit card:
I was paying for petrol today at Shell and requested to use Paywave to pay. The transaction seemed to have some problems, though he was able to generate a receipt (Shell) as well as the smaller one, with the Shell and Citibank logos, you get when you use a card to pay (is that called the receipt too?)
On it, it said "OFFLINE SALE (A)". I also saw "ENT: Paywave Offline".
He took down my details and said he would check and call me to let me know if it went through. If it didn't, I would have to return to that same branch to make payment. It's a station near town that I've never been to and will probably not go past again and I thought it absurd to have to do that, so I asked if he could do something about the transaction.
He was unable to. After a while, he said the machine "was now online and the transaction would be uploaded soon". I was in a rush for an appointment so I left the station... called my issuing bank shortly to check but they said they didn't see anything on their end.
What does this mean?
1. Did the transaction encounter trouble because the machine went down at that point in time?
2. Will the transaction go through?
3. What's this OFFLINE SALE thing mean?
4. I obviously don't intend to cheat on paying for services I used, so is there anything I should do? Wait for the petrol station to call, or write in to Shell, or?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
