Booked the Jetstar promo to Okinawa. First time there. Did some research. Best way to get around there is via car.

Since I be renting a car, do most hotel in Naha provides parking lot? Will it come with additional cost?

Also, where should I be staying at? Naha or out of Naha area?

Thanks!

Jan may not be the best month to visit. It is easier to self-drive in Okinawa. Many hotels provide parking lot but may be slightly further from the hotel bldg. Some may charge a small fee. If you are not driving, it is also ok. Just stay in the area with monorail and take schedule buses to go around the island.

U need to factor time for landing and collecting rental car. It can be slow.

It will be better to drive coz most of the places outside of naha is either inconvenient or unreachable by bus.

U can stay a fews days in naha to visit the places within naha, such as shuri castle and kokusaidori, and also those places nearby, such as katsuren castle ruins and American village.

For the northern part of Okinawa, i suggest staying a night or two in nago, coz it is a long drive from naha to nago. Can visit aquarium, hiji waterfall, hedo misaki etc.

I also suggest you do 12hours block rental which maybe cheaper at some other rental company. Ask for 12hrs block and at end of day say 9am to 9pm, you can return back the car and tada! no need carpark! Next day rent again at your own timing but try to return the car before the company closed. Sometime closed at 8pm to 10pm.
